Welcome back for another episode of the Color Layering with Yana video series! In each one of my monthly videos I explore different ink pad and embossing powder color options for Hero Arts Color Layering sets and will hopefully inspire you to stamp! These videos are published on Hero’s blog and Youtube channel on Mondays following the My Monthly Hero Blog Hops and I’m sharing them on my blog as well.
In this video & episode I am taking a closer look at the Color Layering Fawn set to create two completely different style Christmas cards using same supplies.

CARDS DETAILS
I started working on my cards by stamping the outline image and sentiment. I used Cup o’ Joe dark brown ink and white cardstock for my traditional card design. Next, I used Soft Brown and Caramel inks to stamp the other two layers of this image.
The Fawn stamp comes with little holly and berry images so I stamped those below and above my deer using Moss and Forever Green inks for the leaves and Royal Red for the berries.
To add some interest to the background of this card I added some scoring using my scoring board and tool. I didn’t not score the entire panel, just the white space where there was no stamping. I adhered my panel on to an A2 white card base and embellished with Champagne sequins.
I also stamped the same deer outline and sentiment in Versamark ink onto deep blue cardstock for a completely different look (and heat embossed in gold embossing powder). I only added a most solid layer and heat embossed it in Clear (I skipped using detail layer for this card).
To help my other panel stand out I added ink blending in Navy and Black ink to drive the eye of the viewer to the center of this panel to all of that beautiful heat embossing.
You’d think that you can only do color layering using inks, but you can in fact color layer with embossing powders as well.
I also stamped, colored and cut out holly leaves for this card, I did that on white paper to have nice vibrant green colors but I didn’t want to have white outline show on my finished card. So to hide that I used a Copic marker in B99 to color around my stamping. I did use Moss ink, which is a hybrid ink and hybrid inks are Copic marker friendly so it didn’t bleed because it came in contact with the alcohol marker.
The blue marker I picked doesn’t match 100% to the cardstock, but it did do a pretty good job of hiding those white edges and helping the die cut blend with the rest of the background.
Have fun stamping!
