Hello crafters. Today I’m creating with the Spellbinders July 2019 Large Die of the Month. I also have a giveaway for you at the end of this video to thank you for being my loyal followers and viewers!
In my previous video, I have shared one idea using a part of this die, which is a wheel and I showed you how to make a fun background using just that die. For this video, I have two ideas both showing how to use this bike in a flat version on a card – on a standard A2 card, and also how to make a tandem bike for a long skinny card. Both projects combine die cutting with layered stamping to decorate the bikes with some pretty stamped flowers from WPlus9.

VIDEO TUTORIAL
Watch my video tutorial below or on Youtube to learn how I made the cards I’m sharing today.
A2 PARTIAL BIKE CARD
To use this die on an A2 card you’ll have to make your bike into a partial one. I used the front part, added a basket above the front wheel and created a pretty floral arrangement using stamps from WPlus9 – Fresh Cut Florals.
To create a sentiment for this card I used this month Glimmer Hot Foil Kit which is a set of fun sentiments and coordinating dies to cut them out, and I foiled “Yay, it’s your Birthday” in light blue foil. I used foam adhesive to pop the bike up on the card – this added a bit of bulk, but also that lovely dimension that just brings cards to life.
Next, I added a stamped “Let’s Celebrate” sentiment from Simon’s Tiny Words stamp set. I also stamped some dots in purple next to the floral arrangement making it visually fuller. Lastly, I used glossy accents and coated several bike parts with it to make them dimensional and shiny. I love using glossy accents to add some finishing touches to my cards. Finally, I added dots with Morning Dew drops from Tonic.
TANDEM BIKE CARD
I’ve always wanted to have a tandem bike die in my stash, tandems fascinate me for some reason and while the die I used today is not designed to make a tandem bike, this doesn’t mean I couldn’t tweak it to for that.
I die cut twice as many pieces for the key bike elements. I did look up tandem bikes online as this helped me construct my bike and decide where I needed to add the 2nd seat, handles and just how to connect the two bike bases together. It wasn’t perfect, but for someone who has no idea how this die was intended to be used, it’s not going to matter as this bike ended up looking pretty cute in the end.
I finished this card off in the same way. I just used Gold Mirror cardstock for some of the bike parts and also used gold foil to foil the sentiment.

Love the cool tandem bike!! I did ride one years ago at the beach but I think I did all the pedaling. 🙂 I am not a Spellbinders club subscriber yet although it looks like I am from all the spellbinder dies I have. The small die of the month club has been calling my name after seeing the awesome creations here on your blog postings.
Absolutely love your version of the tandem bike! I am die hard club subscriber… Can’t wait for it to come in the mail
Love your bicycle cards Yana! I have been a subscriber of yours for quite a long time, started when you were in Phoenix, which is where I live. I wish I could have met you in person. I’m not a subscriber yet at Spellbinder’s, have considered it but not quite in the budget at the moment.
I am not a Spellbinders kit of the month member but love their dies and glimmer plates. I have a foil press but haven’t used it yet. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love the tandem bike idea! That’s brilliant. I’m already a subscriber to your blog and I subscribe to the spellbinders kits too. I switch up which ones I get based on what I like but I always get the card kit and at least one other die set. If I win, I cannot accept giveaway #1 due To my religious beliefs. So please pick another winner so they can enjoy it. But if you haven’t chosen who gets which prize pack, I love giveaway #2!
Love your two bike cards!! I currently subscribe to the Spellbinders card kit if the month. I just started getting the kits in March and love them!
Hi Yana. I love all of your projects. I am not yet a Spellbinder Club Member but I am part of the Co-Op. I loved your Tandem Bike card. It reminded me of my years in college. I have thought about joining a club; but I am not sure which one I want to join the most. Thank you for sharing your projects and inspiration. I really appreciate it.

Your cards are beautiful. I love that tandem bike and the colors you chose are gorgeous. I have not subscribed to any of the Spellbinders clubs. I’ve looked into joining, but my budget is pretty tight. I love Spellbinders — they were my first dies (circles!) when I started card making many, many years ago. Now the selection is unbelievable!
Love these cards and yes I am a subscriber of both the small and large die of the month. I’ve been watching you for years all the way back to when you use to Scrapbook! See….. true fan of your inspiration Yana! When I get crafters block I say “What would Yana do?” Keep doing what you do!! Hugs!!
Love these cards! Especially the tandem…I love how you always think outside the box! I am subscribed to the Die Hard Club kit and the Glimmer Hot Foil kit…both have been amazing kits!

You amaze me with your creativity Yana! I love your blogposts and watch every video to soak up all the tips. I have a huge stack of Spellbinder’s card kits of the month I need to use and I have lots of the glimmer plates and foil as I subscribed to both for about 6 months. 🙂

Beautiful cards ! Love the flower arrangements too. No I am not a subscriber of Spellbinders, I looked at it but unfortunately the shipping for Canada is too expensive
I am a kit subscriber. I do the Die Hard kit and the Glimmer Hot Foil kit. I love them!
I also love your tandem bike idea! It turned out amazing.
Great card! No, I don’t subscribe to Spellbinders clubs… or any other manufacturer for that matter. I like to carefully curate my stash now that I’ve purged things I collected in the beginning that weren’t really my style. I don’t always care for items in the clubs and wouldn’t want to waste money on things I won’t use. I wish companies who offered kits or monthly subscriptions would make those products available individually like 6 or 12 months later. That would be fair to subscribers, I think… and make the manufacturers more money in the process. You already put out the money for design and development; might as well sell as many as you can. Call it “Out of the Vault” or something and people will swoon over it all over again.
I love the tandem bike card idea. I am already a subscriber to your blog and I subscribe to the small and large die kit of the month. Love your cards. Thanks for sharing.
No, I am not a subscriber to the die of the month but it is very tempting. I usually buy Spellbinders dies as I can. I love watching your videos, there is always some inspiration to hold on to. Thanks!
