Hello friends! I’m back with another installment of “Cardmaking for Beginners” series and this time I have fun Winter patterned paper cards to share using supplies from Simon Says Stamp January 2019 Card Kit.
Creating with supplies from one card kit is a great starting point for any crafter – seasoned or beginner alike. The papers, embellishments, cardstock etc are expertly combined together to make it easier for us, crafters, to create cards in no time. I have 3 projects in this post using supplies from my Simon Says Stamp January 2019 card kit.
I used mostly patterned paper for all of the projects I’m sharing today and added a bit of stamping to some of the cards. For my first project, Winter Hello, I cut out a journaling card with a cute deer and filled the white empty space next to it with stamped sentiments “Winter Hello” and “There’s Snow One Like You”. I used Simon’s Smoke and Seafoam ink for stamping.
After the ink had time to absorb into the paper (it looked splotchy as first as is very common with this type of ink), the stamping ended up looking like a part of printed design. I added some patterned paper to the background, cut little strips to make banners, trimmed one of the black tags and arranged everything to make a card. I also used my Glossy Accents from the kit to coat the red berries on the paper and add simple dimensional accents to the card.
For my next project, I once again used a journaling card. I picked paper with cute snowman and to tie them to my journaling card somehow I white heat embossed a sentiment that reads “Wanna Build a Snowman?“, I had to do some stamp surgery (I cut the stamp apart) to be able to stamp it like this as a 2 line message. My heat embossing was done on blue patterned paper from the kit, trimmed into a banner and foam mounted on the card. Easy peasy!
Next project is probably my favorite one. I altered the black tag from my kit by cutting the top portion off. Next, I adhered another journaling card, punched a hole and tied some white thread (which is also included in the kit). I cut out “Baby It’s Cold Outside” speech bubble from yet another journaling card and foam mounted it onto the card.
For my background patterned paper I chose one with critters wearing hats and scarves (to emphasize that it is indeed cold). I glued down the loose thread strings using Glossy Accents and topped some off with white pom poms that look like little snowballs.
That’s it! I hope you like these cards and will give them a try using your Simon Says Stamp kit!
