Hello friends! I’m back with a new video featuring the Spellbinders BetterPress Registration Plates. I’ve got many tips and tricks to share with you, so get ready to get inky! First of all, what is BetterPress Registration?
Registration Press Plate sets make creating multi-color letterpress designs simple and foolproof! Simply follow the multi-colored mylar template to layer beautiful colors onto your BetterPress paper for a stunning effect. This clever innovation enhances your letterpress abilities to the next level.
Sounds fun, right? You bet it is and, if it is easy, too. I was away at a CreativeWorld show in Frankfurt for the last 2 weeks and this was the number one product I demoed during the show. Needless to say, it was a hit!

CARD DETAILS
BetterPress Registration plates (currently there are only 2 designs – Thank You Blooms, the one I used for my cards featured in this post, and Blooming Garden) come with a handy template printed on acetate. The template is included in the package, but should you lose your template, you can find a downloadable PDF on the Spellbinders website. You can download and print it and just use the paper template instead.
I used the Thank You Blooms plate for my cards, but there’s another plate available that is part of this collection. I also have a registration plate releasing in my collection, coming in March.
The idea is to press each plate using a different color of ink. Spellbinders is also introducing new BetterPress ink colors (there’s a Tropical set and a Jet set) to expand the ink family collection even further. I don’t yet have these inks (as I forgot to bring them with me from the show), but I did use them in Frankfurt and I can tell you that these colors are stunning. You can, of course, use ink you might already have in your stash, but you will get the best results when you use BetterPress inks.
I wanted to share an advanced technique in my video so I used hot foil stamping for one of the plates/steps. Instead of pressing the sentiment using ink, I foiled it using gold foil. I did have to eyeball the placement as I couldn’t use the template but with the help of the hinge method it all worked out beautifully!
I hope you’ll give these registration plates a try! Have fun creating!
