Hello everyone and welcome to Altenew March 2016 Release Blog Hop (more on that below).
I created a card using an amazing stamp set designed by my dear friend Marika Rahtu. It might not look like much on the product photo in the store, but once you start playing with it this stamp set will make you believe to be a true watercolor artist. I am not kidding, take a look for yourself:
The set features a Birch Tree along with a few branches you can use to customize your tree and 3 sets of leaves. The leaves is what makes this set so special – by stamping them in 3 different shades of green (just like any other color layering) you are able to create a gorgeous greenery that looks like it was watercolored.
Now don’t just stop at green. Think about using pinks to create blossoms for Spring trees or yellows and oranges for Fall, even light greys for snow. I am loving this set and if you give it a try I’m sure you will love it too (and I’m not saying this because Marika is my friend, I truly love it and think its a fantastic and unique set).
First I created a light watercolored background using ink smooshing technique and lightest colors of Altenew green and blue inks. Next I stamped the tree and branches in VersaFine Onyx Black ink, stamped the leaves using Forest Glades, Frayed Leaf and Evergree and watercolored the tree using Altenew Jet Black ink. I also added a simple Wishing You a Beautiful Day sentiment and die cut the panel using Simon’s Stitched Circles Die to create a spotlight on my card.
I also embellished it using Pretty Pink Posh Clear Sequins and some white thread.

Awesome display. These cards look like they are free hand painted.
The color of the leaves is lovely. I like how the branches can also be used with out the leaves.
Yana, this card is gorgeous. Using 3 different green inks made the braches so life-like. Thanks for the hint about using the leaf stamps in different ways for different trees.
