The title of this blog post is somewhat unusual, but the card I have for you today has a story behind it. This Spring my Mom and I, inspired by the government’s call to garden and plant produce everywhere possible, decided to plant tomatoes on our balconies. Mom went to the market and bought 2 young cherry tomato plants, or so she thought. The seller assured her the sprouts were indeed cherry tomatoes and not regular tomatoes. We both planted and cared for our plants, the plants bloomed, and shortly after little tomatoes started to form. The tomatoes grew and grew and now have reached a size that’s well beyond a cherry tomato size. But nonetheless, we are both happy to have tomatoes on our balconies, regardless of the variety.

My today’s card is one created with Jane’s Doodles stamps featuring, you guessed it, a potted tomato plant. Jane has been a tireless supporter of Ukraine and has helped us immensely during this horrid war. Today I’m thankful to be a part of a surprise Instagram hop for Jane. The hop is only taking place on Instagram, not here on the blog.
Please consider shopping at Jane’s store to support her. I used In The Garden stamp set to make this card, it is one of my favorites from Jane, although I love all of her illustrations.
This is my tomato plant, by the way. It is yet to ripen.
Have fun stamping!

Love it! I gave my 90 year old parents a tomato plant this spring and they have already harvested 6 tomatoes! Great way to keep parents out of mischief 🙂
I am glad you and your mother are safe!
yay! That’s awesome! Mine is yet to ripen, but I am not in a hurry 🙂
Such a sign of hope, life and beauty!
Indeed it is!
Love that photo! and gorgeous card
thank you!
It’s a lovely story Yana and Jane is an amazing person. We have a saying here (and maybe it’s the same everywhere, I’m not sure), when you plant a plant, you plant for the future. It gives you hope and helps you look forward. So important in tough times. We have a TV presenter here in the UK whose husband was hit very badly with Covid. He isn’t old, or particularly vulnerable but it hit him badly. He was unconscious for months and I believe still needs round the clock care at home. She featured on Gardeners World programme last year and she talked about planting and caring for plants and a garden as solace, something that she and her children did to help face the future, whatever it might be. And to hopefully give her husband something to look at when he came home. It is always powerful to see what growing something can do for mental health, even when it is a little bit larger than expected tomatoes :). Love to you and your mum and I hope you enjoy your harvest xx
I loved reading this post Yana. I hope your tomatoes bloom and grow and make a lovely harvest. Your card is stunning too. Really beautiful. Hugs, Wends xoxo
Hi Yana, I love that you’re growing tomatoes. We are, too, but luckily we did get the cherry variety this year! Please share a photo when yours finally ripens! Nothing like a warm tomato right off the vine! Love your card too! Sending good thoughts and hugs!
so beautiful
