Hello friends and happy weekend! Sadly I am still sick in bed (I’ve been sick for over a week now) fighting a nasty virus, I’m hoping I’ll be better soon. Today I have a fun card to share using Simon Says Stamp latest STAMPtember exclusive – Art Impressions!
I have always been a fan of these quirky lady stamps and I’ve admired Kristina’s cards using them for a long time now! I was glad to have a chance to create with this year’s exclusive from Art Impressions and made this fun card.

CARD DETAILS
When I was coloring these ladies I tried to picture women in my life who resembled these characters. I’ve never colored anything like this before and it was definitely a pleasant and educational experience.
After stamping the image in Intense Blank ink I used my Copic markers and the packaging for inspiration and colored these ladies using just 2 color blends as suggested on the example on the packaging. It’s a new to me way to color and I definitely enjoyed it – it’s easy, way less complicated than using 3 or 4 colors and doing extensive blending. With a bit of additional practice I’d love to continue using this 2-color coloring method in the future.
I didn’t quite like how I colored the pumpkins, I think I need to get some better orange colors for this, but overall I am very pleased with how this card came about. I wanted to add a little something to the background, so I made a mask for the ladies and stenciled large dots using Barely Beige ink and mini ink blending tool. This added just a little bit of interest the card.
I wasn’t sure where to add a sentiment, but I finally decided to risk it and I white heat embossed it directly over the image. I like how it turned out, I also white heat embossed it onto a panel of red cardstock and tested adhering it overtop the image, but I didn’t like how it colored a lot of the coloring so I left it as is.

This card is absolutely magnificent! I love how you colored the ladies and embossing the sentiment on top and in white is great because you can still see all of the lovely ladies.
Sending good and healthy vibes your way – hope you feel better soon.
Thank you for inspiring me, Yana.
thank you so much, Joan!
OMG Yana, This card is STUNNNG!!! The colors on it are like WOW, the just “pop” out. I LOVE your blending and shading and everything, before I read your post I just was looking at how amazing the colors and the way you colored it and I was blown away, I thought back to the time when I was shocked you told me you were not copic certified because I told you I have always admired and been inspired by your copic coloring especially the shading and blending, I believe you are top in the field, anyways then I read your post and was really surprised you only used a few copic colors, its amazing to me that the way you colored it, I would not of know that, and that is a HUGE compliment girl to your blending skills!!! I also LOVE how you took a BIG risk and and put the sentiment on the front, who would think that, YOU, and it looked amazing, I loved it!! I would of never put that much work into that card, all that beautiful color and then took that risk, so brave Yana, lol, but it was so worth it, that is why you are there and I am here typing how amazingly talented you are, lol. Thanks for an awesome post today, I LOVE these ladies so much, my mom’s best friend is in a nursing home she is 96 and she adores the cards I make with these ladies 🙂
oooh, thank you so much, Tracey! it was a fun challenge to try and color as the packaging example suggested. Had I not had it – I would have probably ended up shading in totally different areas and using a TON of markers. So glad I used packaging as a guide when I colored these ladies.
Hope that nasty virus makes an exit soon. Being sick sucks!
This card is so fun. I really like the white sentiment over top – You’re a braver woman than I in giving it a try. It sure worked out perfectly.
The subtle dots in the BG are a great finishing touch. Just enough to pull the look together, but not so much as to be distracting.
Again, feel better soon!
thank you so much, Debbie!
I was perusing the SSS site earlier today and saw this stamp; and now I see that you have created a fabulous card with it! It is a great stamp and I am so glad you showed up how fantastic it is! This card reminds me of my MOM and her pals who she used to play tennis with! She is in her 80s now and no longer a tennis gal; but she loves her some coffee! Thank you for the wonderful tutorial and for reminding me of women I love! Have a wonderful day!
thank you, Liz! Yes, I think everyone can see someone they know in these sets from Art Impressions, they are so unique! I think of them as collectibles 🙂
What a lovely fun card!! So sweet 🙂
Hey hope you’re feeling much better soon.
Great card, Love the colours used & as ever adore the way you colour your images, fabulous.
thank you, Andrea! I am finally over this horrible cold. It’s good be back!
Just found this post from you in my “spam” folder! YIKES! Big mistake that hopefully I’ve corrected. What a totally different kind of card for you!! Congrats on doing something totally different. I like these ladies and stamps, but do not have copic markers and am not able to invest in them right now. But I do like the look and fun of them. So sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. In your recent video it sounded like you still were coming back around. Hope you’re feeling better and back up and around soon … and able to enjoy those gorgeous fall colors you’ve talked about (still hovering just under 100 degrees here in the desert and some cool fall weather would definitely be much appreciated right now!!). Take good care.
thank you, Debbie! I am finally almost back to being my usual self, cold is gone! I surely do miss Phoenix especially this time – we had our first cold day yesterday, temperatures dropped to around 50F during the day and today it’s even colder, closer to 40F. Brrrr! I was just remembering how warm Phoenix was – I was still swimming in the outdoor pool at the end of October and wearing short-sleeve shirts during the day in December. Oh I’ll always miss this place!
So super fun!!
