Spellbinders | You’ve Got Game Card. Blog Hop + Giveaway (Now Closed)

Spellbinders | You've Got Game Card using S3-310 You’ve Got Game dies. Handmade card by Yana Smakula #spellbinders #diecutting #cardmaking

Hello friends! Today I’m taking part in Spellbinders blog hop showcasing several new collections. One of the collections that is featured during this hop is Die D-Lites (it actually is one of my favorite die lines from Spellbinders – I like the fresh and simple look of these dies) so I figured I’d share a card I created using You’ve Got Game set.

As of September 2016 I work as an in-house creative designer at Spellbinders office in Phoenix. While I do a lot of work for them and create a number of different projects I am only sharing what I truly love made using their products here on my blog. I do not and never will share projects or mention products I not love.

I made this card some time back when I was working on packaging projects for this collection (packaging projects are those you see on the product packaging as inspiration and example of use). I wanted to make additional cards over the weekend, but unfortunately I run out of time!

CARDS DETAILS

This is a super simple card to make and doesn’t require a lot of supplies. You’ll need You’ve Got game die set, a die cutting machine (even a mini machine will do since this die set is small) and colored cardstock. No stamps needed!

I started working on this card by die-cutting You’ve Got Game pieces out of pink, blue and black cardstock. I like to pop my die cuts up so I used fun foam (added thin sticky to both sides) and die-cut identical shapes out of fun foam. You can use foam adhesive instead, but for thin and delicate elements (like “You’ve Got Game” and joystick) it’s hard to add foam adhesive without it being visible from the front.

Once I die-cut my fun foam pieces I adhered colored cardstock pieces on top. To create a colorful card base I cut colored cardstock into various size rectangles and adhered them onto an A2 top folding card base. I adhered the pink screen on top, added “You’ve got game” sentiment and black joystick. Finally, I used a white gel pen and colored in the controls on the stick (the die embosses these for you so you can even stencil through it and ink them up using ink). Very easy and you have a quick card for a gamer or a teenager!

MORE INSPIRATION

I have lots more inspiration to share using this collection, but I can’t share any of the cards just yet as they will be published in a magazine. I’ll share them as soon as I can! I have shared two cards on my blog in December, click the images to see them and read more about them:

  1. Hi Yana,

Sorry I am so late in looking at your blog post. This type of card is not my thing, but I realise that a designer of cards you need to ‘think out of the box’ sometimes and also create projects that may not make you smile but others would love. I did think the card with the nuts and bolts was really cool for a male member of our family or group of friends. Thank you. :o)

  2. I just love every card that you make – you are so very talented! Thanks for the inspiration & showing just how amazing these dies are!

Like what you see? Drop me a comment! Thanks!
