Spellbinders | You Sexy Beast Robot Valentine’s Day Card for a Guy

I love to make cards with some lever of humor to them so when I spotted the “You Sexy Beast” sentiment by Cathy Zielske I knew it would work perfectly with the Spellbinders Robots dies! This card, along with the Camper card I shared recently was published in Die-Cutting Essentials magazine in the Cards for Men section. I’m happy to repost these cards on my blog and share them with you!

CARD DETAILS

When I was making this card I pictured my husband as the person who would receive it – a computer geek! I started working on this project by creating an A2 top folding card base out of white cardstock. Next, I cut patterned paper (Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Winter 6×6 Paper Pad) to 4 x 5 1/4″ and foam mounted it onto the card.

I die-cut a circle out of patterned paper – I picked one with a blue print (Echo Park Rock A Bye Baby 6×6 Paper Pad) that somewhat resembled circuits on a computer motherboard and also foam mounted that circle onto the card.

Next, I cut a bow out of same patterned paper, assembled it and adhered it at the base of the circle. This bow is pretty dimensional so you’ll want to hand deliver a card like this or substitute a bow with something else if you plan to mail it.

Finally, I die-cut my robot out of silver foil cardstock. I die-cut identical layer out of fun foam (with sticky on both side to make it easier to adhere everything in place). The cool thing about the robots die set is that the legs and arms are separate pieces and can be changed (there are 3 sets of bodies, arms and legs in the set) and also arms can be positioned in different ways.

Since I was making a Valentine’s Day card I also die-cut a bunch of tiny hearts out of red cardstock, added one onto the robot’s body exactly where a heart would be and also scattered additional hearts on the card.
