CARD DETAILS

I don’t often make cards like this, but these are the kind of cards that I truly love. These are also the style of cards that got me into cardmaking in the first place, so whenever I have a chance to make an elaborate card such as this one it’s a true pleasure. Plus, this style is very popular in Ukraine and my family loves to receive these around the Holidays!

  1. Gorgeous. I have a question though. Maybe I’m missing something. If you make a 6.25 card base wouldn’t that take a 12.5 piece of paper? I only know of 12×12 cardstock.

    1. thank you! there’s a trick to cut two pieces of cardstock, one slightly larger to create a hinge to attach the second piece of paper to to make a larger card base. Same trick to make a top folding 5×7″ card base šŸ™‚ Hope this helps!

  2. That’s a WOW card! I love it. I do make cards similar to the one you showcase here. They are beautiful and something special. Sometimes I’m in the mood for making a more elaborate card (for someone special or a special occasion) that’s more about construction (die cutting) than stamping and/or coloring. I miss your tutorials on these types of cards. I found them so inspirational and encouraging. Any chance you could be persuaded to do more of them again??!!!! Not to dwell too much on the point, but I do think you have a great gift for designing this style of card and it was the initial reason I began following your blog. That’s so interesting (to me) that they’re popular in Ukraine right now! Although I really love dies like these, for some reason I still feel intimidated by them and work myself into a state of confusion about how to work with them. On the other hand, once that gets worked out and I get going … I LOVE cards like this and apparently so do people who receive. Haven’t done it in a while, so thanks for the reminder. And thanks, Yana, for sharing this card.

  3. I think this would also be popular in Germany. I always receive intricate cards from my cousin. Thank you for showing such a beautiful card.
