Hello there! Today I have a fun project to share – a simple Holiday card using Spellbinders 3D shading stamps. These stamps is something very new and cool from Spellbinders. I’ve been playing with them for the past few month and finally ready to share more about them here on my blog.
Like this project? Pin it and save for later!
I wanted to mention that as of September 2016 I am working as a trainee at Spellbinders office in Phoenix. While I do a lot of work for them and create lots of different projects I am only sharing what I truly love made using their products here on my blog.
I am also very much behind on the projects I want to share (I don’t have to share them here, but I want to) and I’m hoping to catch up soon. If you’d love to see more of my Spellbinders projects you can find them on their blog every Thursday – I have a new video tutorial ever week.
VIDEO TUTORIAL
I’ve created a video tutorial where I am sharing everything in detail. You can watch it below or on my Youtube channel.
Like this video? Please give it a big thumbs up and share with a crafty friend! Leave me a comment too, I love hearing from you!
CARDÂ DETAILS
The new 3D shading stamps from Spellbinders are rather unique (I’m linking to all designs that are available at the end of my post). The images are made up of tiny little dots that when grouped closer together give you a darker color or when spread out further apart – lighter color. So by inking the stamp using one color of ink you can instantly have lighter and darker areas on your stamped images. These are a bit similar to some Hero Arts woodblock stamps.
To create this card I first stamped a background using Holly and Berries stamp and Distress Old Paper ink. I simply inked up my stamp and stamped it repeatedly onto my A2 top folding card base to create a patterned paper like background.
To create the focal point I used the same stamp and the same color of ink and X-Press it Copic Blending paper. I used Copic Markers and did a no-line coloring to make it look like I drew this image myself.
I used the following colors:
After my coloring was done I die cut it using a circle, heat embossed a sentiment in white embossing powder and foam mounted onto my card base. I also added a generous amount of shimmer using Wink of Stella shimmer pen in clear.
These stamps are very fun to play with and I’ll be sure to share more projects using them on my blog. I used a woodblock stamp in my video – those are only available at places like Michaels, same designs are available in cling – those can be found at many places online.
