Hello, friends! I’m excited to join Spellbinders for their March 2023 Clubs Blog Hop. As you know, I work for Spellbinders and I create many of their monthly Club projects, as well as film all of the monthly Club videos. I am a huge fan of these Clubs and I find it a treat to be able to create with them every month. Whenever time permits, I like to make extra cards with my fave products (see my March Spellbinders Club Faves HERE) and this month my favorite is the Stitching Die of the Month! I’ve been fascinated with stitching for more than a year now and having a monthly stitching die is a dream come true!
I have 2 cards to share both featuring the March 2023 Stitching Die of the Month:
I wanted to go bold and bright and use a striking color combination, so I went with Cosmic Sky cardstock for the main stitched element and red variegated floss for the stitching. Don’t you just love how red and blue look together?
I didn’t stitch this die as it is intended, instead, I did my own thing – I skipped adding the die-cut petals (you’ll see what I’m talking about on the 2nd card below), and I also added many french knot stitches to the center of each stitched square and to the middle side sections (watch THIS video for the french knot how-to).
Using the variegated floss gave me multi colors knots – all made using one thread, I didn’t need to change it and use different colors to create this multi-colored look.
I foiled my sentiment (which comes from Yana’s Special Sentiments set) directly on the blue panel before stitching it. My foiling was done in opaque white foil, I love this foil color, it looks just like white embossing powder!
I also added several die-cut flowers and leaves and these were made using flower dies from March 2023 Large Die of the Month, although any flower dies will do here (especially the Mini Bloom & Sprigs set, if you have it).
The background decorative panel was cut from Brushed White cardstock, I’ve been using this paper any time I can and I love it! It is such a step up from the regular white!
Here’s another card I stitched using the March 2023 Stitching Die of the Month, this one was stitched the way it is intended to be stitched:
I once again used variegated floss to add color variation to the stitches, I love this result! I die-cut the petals from Brushed White cardstock, the same as the background, and attached the petals by using gold thread, a touch of gold never hurts! The main stitched element was die-cut from Dune.
My sentiment was foiled in Matte Gold foil and it ties in nicely with the gold stitched accents. I foiled a simple message – Handmade with Love, so this is an all-occasion card.
Once again I added flower die cuts to dress this card up and even scattered some gems in the background for a bit of added sparkle:

Awesome creations! I especially love the blue shape with switching and flowers. It reminds me of a beautifully embroidered long white dress I saw recently from Ukraine.
