Spellbinders | Love You To The Moon & Back Watercolor Camper Card (Photo Tutorial)

Hello friends! Back in October I had the pleasure of creating several cards for the Die-Cutting Essentials magazine for the Cards For Men section and I made a bunch of funny, punny and hopefully clever cards for guys using Spellbinders Die D-Lites dies. I’m happy to start sharing those cards with you! First up is this Love You To The Moon & Back card.

CARD DETAILS

I started working on this card by creating a simple watercolor background. I’ve shared many videos on my Youtube channel showing how to make a similar background; basically you simply need to cut your watercolor paper to size (I used Arched Cold Press paper), tape it onto a board (this will help paper warp less), wet it with clean water and add watercolor using a wide brush. I used just two colors – Indigo and Sodalite Genuine from Daniel Smith (both of these are available in my Watercolor Palette from Simon Says Stamp).

I also added white paint splatter to mimic stars (I used just white acrylic paint, I’m looking forward to trying out some white gouache for that) and foam mounted my watercolor background onto an A2 card base.

Next, I die-cut Camper and camper parts out of silver foil, green, black cardstock (make sure to cut camper out of both silver foil and green, cut green in half and adhere onto silver to make the bottom part of the camper green and top part silver). Basically something very similar to what I shared in this card here – I did say I love this camper die!

I die-cut 3 trees out of green cardstock using an older die from Spellbinders – from the Canoeing set. To pop all of these elements up on my card I added double sided sticky sheets onto both sides of white fun foam and die-cut identical shapes out. I adhered my colored cardstock die cuts onto fun foam die cuts and adhered those onto my watercolor background.

Finally, I die-cut stars and moon out of silver foil cardstock and fun foam and did the same thing – used foam die cuts to foam mount stars and moon onto my card.

Lastly, I stamped sentiment in black ink, this one comes from Simon Says Stamp – Shine On stamp set.
