Hello crafters. Today I have a Christmas card to share featuring new Christmas 2021 products from Spellbinders. I know, we are only in July and I am already talking about Christmas. Truth be told, Christmas is my favorite holiday and if I could make Christmas cards all year long – I would.

CARD DETAILS
Spellbinders has some absolutely incredible collections for Christmas 2021 launching today. There are several Collections, all simply fabulous and very inspiring. . My favorite collection from this release, however, is the Open House collection – it is a small one, just 4 products, but wait until you see it.
The main die in this collection is the front door die. If you are a Club member for Spellbinders you might remember a door die from last year – “Always Welcome” and it was the Large Die of the Month for October 2020. Well, guess what? That door die coordinates with all of the die cuts in this collection. So if you have it – you can mix and match pieces. I have that die, I love it, I’ve shared several cards using it (HERE and HERE) and there’s also a video on my Youtube channel showing how to put it together, so you can say I am a big fan.
So the Open House collection has the front door, it has side panels, there’s also a set with the steps and the steps have sentiments you can put inside and there’s also a set with a topiary you can add next to your door.
The door itself is designed to go on an A2 card, so it will fit perfectly on an A2. If you add the steps to your door, you can make a slimline – a mini slimline, or a full-size slimline card as the steps really extend the scene.
What’s really cool about this collection is that it is not necessarily a Christmas collection. these products can be used all year round, and only the sentiments in the steps set are Christmas sentiments. Everything else is designed for everyday cards.
The main door set has many pieces to embellish the door and all of the pieces are separate allowing you to really customize the look of the door die-cut. Be sure to emboss the door itself as that will add beautiful detail.
I wanted to make a Christmas door, of course, so the colors I went with are white, red, green, light blue, and vibrant blue for the background. I added big red bows onto the windows – these were cut out using pieces from the topiary set and I also die-cut Merry Christmas sentiment in the steps – I love how the steps are designed.
You even have the die to cut the banister and handrail and you can cut those from different colors of cardstock allowing for more customization. I debated making mini white or red, and I ended up going with red, which I do like better.
I also added the foliage, which is included with the main door base, and also cut flowers from red cardstock, to look like poinsettias, although those aren’t the correct shape for poinsettias.
I used a set called Shopping Spree from another collection to die cut several gifts to place on the top step. I didn’t like how the top step was completely empty, so I wanted to add something, and adding gifts seemed like a great idea. I die cut several gifts from red and light blue cardstock as well as red stripe diagonal patterned paper. I also die-cut the bow and ribbon pieces from rose gold cardstock.
I envisioned this door leading to a beautiful house with a vibrant blue facade. To create the facade of the house I used Spellbinders Cosmic Sky cardstock and dry embossed it with a new slimline embossing folder called Striped Slimline. This is also a new product, from the Holiday Slimline collection, designed to work perfectly for the slimline cards.
I created a side folding card base, it measures 3 3/4 x 7 1/2” so not exactly the proper slimline size, but that’s what worked for my card design. I have the best time creating this card, making and dressing up my door, and adding all of the decorations. I hope you’ll check out this collection – it is perfect for the Holidays!

These are gorgeous!!!!!!!! Wow!!!!!!!!
Another great video with succinct instructions and the card is marvelous. You are such a good teacher, fabulous crafter and you inspire me. Your last year’s Spellbinder door cards were so much fun and this year is another triumph. I cannot wait to get my dies and start making some cards. Looking forward to your next creative journey using these dies….
Taking the “Sunday Drive” idea, I hope, in the future, there will be something like this idea for the door sets (i.e., decorations for these door die sets to be used for other seasons or holiday in the year). For example, some glimmer effects & sentiments, animals (birds, squirrels, dogs, cats, etc.); outdoor flowers pots or window boxes for flowers or topiary; some porches; different effects (pathways, stones, bricks, paneling for house front); different window panes, handrails and windows, porch lights, etc.; decorations for holidays like pumpkins, bats, ghost, skeletons, leaves; and inside scenes when door opens or to see through windows.
This is so pretty!
