Spellbinders | How to Use Peony Background Press Plate. Video

Hello friends! This week I continue to share a look at the products in my new Let’s Celebrate collection with Spellbinders. I’ve already shared a How To Use Floral Celebration Press Plate and Stencil Bundle video, and How to Use Celebrate Flowers Registration Press Plate video. In this post, I’m sharing the How to Use Peony Background Press Plate. As always, I have several examples for you, I hope they inspire you to create with either these products or products you already have in your stash.

PEONY BACKGROUND PRESS PLATE

The Peony Background Press Plate is a reverse plate. It applies ink onto the background of your A2 card and creates flower/leaf outline and detail lines. This is designed to help you create those dark, dramatic background with vivid colorful flowers on top. Here’s an example of this plate pressed in black ink and colored using Karin Brush Markers:

The black background is created by pressing the plate in black ink. The sentiment is made by doing reverse foiling:

If black (or dark color) is not your thing, you can certainly press this plate using bright and cheerful ink colors. This will give you a colorful background and white flowers (which you can also color, but I opted to leave white).

This makes for a quick and easy background and also allows you to make ombre backgrounds by using different BetterPress ink colors:

Here’s another example of a colorful background and a foiled sentiment on top:

As with all BetterPress plates, you can also use them for hot foil stamping. Here I foiled my plates using Gold Foil (I do like the look of Matte Gold better, but I didn’t have Matte Gold when I was making this card). I used Copic markers to color the flowers on the Simon Says Stamp #130 LB cardstock:
