Yellow, gray and white is probably one of my most favorite color combinations. I think it’s very peaceful, yet modern and striking. So whenever I’m in doubt which colors to use I settle upon yellows and grays. With this post and I’d like to continue sharing projects I created using Spellbinders Quilt It Collection by Lene Lok (grab a cuppa, I have a lot to share). You can catch previous posts using dies from this collection here: Stitched Borders, Gems Quilt, Tumbling Blocks Dies Quilt, Half Hex Quilt.
As of September 2016 I work as a trainee (in-house creative designer) at Spellbinders office in Phoenix. While I do a lot of work for them and create a number of different projects I am only sharing what I truly love made using their products here on my blog. I do not and never will share projects or mention products I not love.

CARD DETAILS – HAPPY BIRTHDAY
I started working on this card by die-cutting shapes using Star Quilt dies out of white, Simon’s Fog, Smoke and Sunshine cardstock. Because traditional quilting isn’t something I do in everyday life, I researched Star Quilts on Pinterest to get an idea how to assemble and arrange the pieces.
To make it easier to adhere my die cuts in place and form a pattern I added a sheet of double sided sticky onto white cardstock panel. You can use glue to adhere these in place or spray adhesive or any other way you prefer; I like to use sticky sheets and they seem to work really well for me. You can also add sticky to the back of the cardstock you plan to cut, but in this case it would have been a bit wasteful, so I adhered it onto a blank panel instead.
I first “build” my pattern on my desk without the use of adhesive and once I was happy with the colors and placement I transferred the pieces one by one onto the sticky panel starting from the bottom. It’s much easier to start along the edge of the paper as opposed to starting in the middle; I feel it’s easier to dock pieces together and make sure there aren’t any weird gaps.
Once my pattern was completed I adhered it onto a 5×7″ white card base and added a simple “Happy Birthday” sentiment. The pieces in this die set are slightly larger and because I wanted to show them best I could I opted for a 5×7 card, but you can also create smaller A2 projects using these.

SPELLBINDERS QUILT IT COLLECTION – MORE INSPIRATION
I have more cards to share using dies and embossing folder from this unique collection. Even though all of my cards feature a full background you can also use these to create partial backgrounds. Don’t limit yourself to just these examples/layouts.
GO WHERE YOUR DREAMS TAKE YOU CARD
I used Wedding Rings embossing folder to create this card. After dry embossing a piece of white cardstock in my Platinum machine I used Spellbinders’ Tool ‘n One with a brayer attachment and Avery Elle Mimosa pigment ink and added color onto the entire panel. It’s best to use pigment ink for this technique as it’s much easier to apply it and create a seamless coverage.

LOVE CARD
To create this card I used Half Square Triangle Quilt dies and one of the embossing folders (sadly, it never got released). There is one embossing folder in this collection (the one above) that can be used on it’s own or in conjunction with any of the dies in this collection to add the illusion of stitching.

BE CONFIDENT BE BRAVE CARD
My final card for today shows both Block Quilt dies and the Wedding Ring embossing folder. I went with a bolder and much brighter color combination for this card and added lots of hot pink.
I hope this post wasn’t too long and I was able to inspire you to create something today!

Very cool designs!!
Quite a few cardmakers and scrapbookers were once quilt makers. This line sure brings it around full circle and is beautiful. One of the things I love most about quilts is the texture of the stitching into the cloth. The designs highlight that affect and the dies are a really great way to tie that love of quilting together with my love of creating something for someone. You must be working 24/7 to turn out all the work that you do but I can’t really call it work. If you really love something (like you obviously do) then it is no longer work. Thanks for all your inspiration and hard not-work. LOL
Such cool creations!
