Spellbinders | Birthday & Anniversary Cards with February’20 Large Die of the Month | Video

I have several cards to share featuring 2 new must-have die sets from Spellbinders! I have a huge die collection in my stash and I never think I would need any more dies, but somehow the companies manage to come up with such clever and unique designs, I feel I need them in my craft room as I know I’ll be using them a lot.

CARDS IDEA

One of those sets is the Spellbinders Large Die of the Month for February 2021. It is called Birthday Wishes for everyone and this is basically a set of large numbers in a beautiful font. And they are so big! The numbers are just under 2” tall. There are 14 dies in this set, so you have the numbers from 0 to 9 and also additional dies.

I used patterned paper from my stash featuring a geometric print. I used the paper both for the card background and to die-cut the numbers 25. I also added the die-cut “happy” and “th” cut from Gold Mirror cardstock, as well as a sentiment strip from Simon Says Stamp and clear droplets from Pretty Pink Posh.

In case you are new to Spellbinders and their Clubs, the Large Die of the month is a membership, available from the Spellbinders website only. This subscription is $27.5 per month, US shipping is included in this cost. Every month there’s a new die set delivered to your door along with lots of inspiration from Spellbinders. If you enjoy die cutting – you’ll enjoy these kits as the designs are always fresh and trendy. I don’t share the projects with the kits every month here on my youtube channel, but I do try and create fun cards using these products whenever I can find the time.

The 2nd new die that I feel is a must-have from Spellbinders is the Color Block Slices die (will be available on February 20th in the Spellbinders store, available now from Simon Says Stamp or Scrapbook.com). It is a unique die to create backgrounds with the help of colored cardstock or even patterned paper. The die cuts 2 large angled pieces of paper that can be assembled in a variety of ways to make backgrounds.

The two cards below both feature backgrounds made using the Color Block Slices die. 

I used various colored cardstock from my stash and die-cut slices using the Color Block Slices die. Next, I arranged the slices into a colorful background. The white cardstock panel was cut to 3 3/4 x 5″ and I die-cut the numbers 47 directly into the panel creating a negative die-cut look. The panel was foam mounted over the slice’s background revealing pretty cardstock underneath it. I added “Happy” and “th” cut from Gold Mirror cardstock, as well as a sentiment strip from Simon Says Stamp and clear droplets from Pretty Pink Posh.

This last card is an anniversary one. I used the separator die-cut included in the Spellbinders Large Die of the Month for February 2021 to create a horizontal divider for the two numbers – 25 (day) and 01 (month) celebrating January 25th (the day hubby and I met). Similar to the previous card, I made a background using the Color Block Slices die. This time I also added Gold Mirror cardstock to the background. I also embellished the card with pretty florals from the January 2021 Glimmer Hot Foil Kit from Spellbinders (currently unavailable).
