VIDEO TUTORIAL

I’ve created a video tutorial where I am sharing everything in detail. You can watch it below or on my Youtube channel.

PROJECT DETAILS

I used Spellbinders What’s The Point Steel Rule Die (this die makes a triangle-shaped gift box, also great for Easter – it can be easily turned into a carrot) and green felt to create my trees.

Unlike thin dies, thick steel rule dies can cut things that are a lot thicker, like several layers of cardstock or fabric, thick fun foam etc so they make it very easy to create dimensional home decor items.

A quick warning – this is very addictive, you’ll keep wanting to make more and more trees! They make great mantel decoration and can even be used as Christmas Tree ornaments (especially if you have a white tree).

I adhered a sheet of green felt onto a sheet of green cardstock using super strong adhesive from Thermoweb to make sure my finished trees would be a bit more stable. Usually I like to use Stick It and Scrapbook Adhesives Adhesive Sheets for my paper crafting, but these aren’t strong enough to hold felt, so this is why I used adhesive from Thermoweb.

To make my trees a bit more festive I wrapped gold thread around them to look like a garland and also adhered gold sequins onto one of my trees to imitate ornaments. You can also use thin wire and small beads to decorate your tree with or keep it free from any ornaments or embellishments for a natural look.

I used small wood slices for the base of my trees and adhered them using a hot glue gun. You can also adhere these trees on top of gifts, add hooks and hand on a tree etc – the sky’s the limit.

This is a very fun project to make and if you still have some time before the Holidays I encourage you to give it a try!
