Spelbinders | Fresh Picked Cards. Video

Modern perfection. This is how I would describe these floral dies. They are so good. The dies and flowers are big and bold, they take up the entire space of an A2 card, but they can also be used differently and mixed. I rushed to finish this video and blog post, as I leave for Frankfurt in a few days (I’m headed to the CreativeWorld Show with Spellbinders), so I only scratched the surface of how these can be used, but honestly, there are so many options.

Anyhow, there are 6 products in this collection called Fresh Picked – 5 die sets, one of which is a sentiment set, and also one embossing folder. The 4 other die sets are florals. Bold. Beautiful. Modern. Inspiring. You name it. You can see many, many different examples on the Spellbinders website on the product pages. I used all but the Daffodil, like I said, I just didn’t have time to fit it into my schedule, still, it is a beautiful die.

I wanted to do a video and show you how using different shades of the same color of cardstock can influence the look of your card. I have done something similar in the past, but I wanted to do it again, just because I love playing with color. My favorite set in this collection is the one with Anemones (I also have an anemone die I designed for Spellbinders, but it is done in a completely different style). What I am trying to say – I love anemones.

CARD DETAILS

My first 3 cards show the Anemones Dies. I used 5 shades of blue plus white, green, gold glitter, and black for these cards. The first card uses Indigo for the background and is the most dramatic of all:

The 2nd Anemone card features Cosmic Sky in the background, and thus this card appears a lot more vibrant:

And the 3rd Anemone card features Glacier, the lightest blue, in the background and thus appears bright:

All of these have the same design, element placement, and colors. Using a dark color cardstock for the background creates a ton of drama and turns the card into a moody one. My favorite kind.

Moving on. Next, I have a card created with the Fresh Picked Berries:

I used the same concept (several shades of the same color) and went with purples. I also added yellow here as I adore using green, purple, and yellow for Spring cards. I’ve never done a Spring card with such a dramatic dark purple background, this is a first for me.

And the last card I have for you uses the Fresh Picked Buttercups. Here I wanted to illustrate a completely different look you can achieve with these (or any Fresh Picked) dies. I used just one flower as a focal point for my card. Instead of cutting it from colored cardstock and leaving it as is I also added shading with the help of alcohol markers. I basically colored the die cut as if I were coloring a stamped image. The result? Completely different with a ton of detail.

I also used the embossing folder from this collection, Columns, to make a background for this card. I embossed it at an angle and gosh, it looks so good. The sentiment here was made using a BetterPress sentiment set (from the Pressed Poisies collection which is the next one on my to-use list).
