Simon Says Stamp | Summer Birthday Card. Party – It’s Your Birthday!

Hello friends! Summer is in full swing here with lots of sunshine, triple digit temperatures and occasional showers with thunderstorms! I’m so inspired by all of this and also by the pretty Summer colors to make colorful cards. Today I have a Birthday card to share that is just that – perfect for Summer!

CARD DETAILS

If you watched my video earlier this week about the Hero Arts June kit and add-ons you might have caught me getting super excited about a striped background I made for a card that looked like a beach towel. I mentioned I was going to try and re-create this look using stamps and so I did!

I pulled out my Simon’s Basic Stripes stamp set to try and re-create that look with the help of stamps and inks.

And yay! It worked and it worked so easily, too! I stamped pretty stripes in Maliblue ink (this is my new favorite color for Summer) for this card. I used the widest stripe and just repeatedly stamped it onto the front of my card with the help of my stamp platform. I eye-balled the placement and didn’t really measure anything this time for a more natural look.

I also created a bold ink blended background using Sunshine, Maliblue and Deep Sea inks. I white heat embossed Party going vertically on this panel and added a white strip with “It’s Your Birthday” sentiment to the left. I foam mounted everything onto my card.

Next, I stamped, colored and cut out a few images from Warm Christmas Wishes stamp set from Simon – it’s one of their best sets for Summer if you ask me. It is a Christmas set, but I LOVE using it during Summer!

The colors of Copics I used are: Y11, Y13, Y15, RV11, RV13, RV14, BG32, BG15, BG18, E31, E33, E37, E79.

I also stamped “Like You Mean It” to go along with the “Party” and foam mounted the skinny white strips onto the card.

I don’t know about you, but this card just makes me happy. I probably wont be giving it to anyone just yet, as I’d like to keep it on my desk for future inspiration. Hope that’s not wrong to do!
