Simon Says Stamp | Summer Birthday Card Idea #2. You Are Flipping Amazeballs

Hello friends! I’m on a roll! Super inspired by the vibrant colors of Summer and also by all of the sea critters out there. By the way, the other day, when I shared my Hero Arts Crab card, I mention that I don’t have any other crab images in my stash. I was wrong! I spotted this adorable crab from Simon and I just couldn’t resist. It’s a crab-mania with me these days!

CARD DETAILS

I started working on this card by heat embossing “Happy”, “Woot” and “Party” in white detail embossing powder onto white cardstock. Next, I blended Simon’s inks to create a pretty background – I used Hollyhock, Sunshine and Maliblue. I love how these colors transition one into another creating other pretty colors for Summer!

I used a cloth and a hint of Hero Arts Ultra Clean stamp cleaning solution to wipe down the white heat embossing. This helps to remove any residual ink from the heat embossed areas. This also removes ink if you are not careful. And so it did remove some ink – you can clearly see it on the photo below and above. But! I LOVE the way it turned out! I have some technique ideas in my head to use with this so stay tuned.

I also stamped additional sentiments in black that go with my heat embossed messages – “Birthday To You”, “It’s you Birthday” and “Like You Mean It”.

Next, I stamped, colored and cut out the crab and sea star. I used R39, R24 and R22 markers and a white pen to add highlights.

to create a background to mount my panel on I once again used stripes stamp set and stamped yellow stripes going on an angle to make a graphic looking background for my card. I also added “You Are Flipping Amazeballs” stamped in black onto a white cardstock strip and a finishing touch to this card.
