Simon Says Stamp | Stamped Leafy Pattern Card with Plantiful Puns

Simon Says Stamp | Stamped Leafy Pattern Card using Plantiful Puns stamp set & Copic coloring. #simonsaysstamp #stamping #patternstamping #cardmaking

Hello there! Today I have a punny card featuring some simple pattern stamping (use THIS link to explore other pattern stamping ideas on my blog). Stamping patterns or background using smaller individual stamps (as opposed to background stamps) is something I truly love. There’s freedom to create ANY kind of background and really make it your own.

CARD DETAILS

I started working on this card like I always do – by stamping images in Copic marker friendly ink forming a random pattern for my card. It’s important to go outside the edge of the panel to make it look like as if it was cut out from a larger sheet. I used just one image from the Plantiful Puns stamp set for this pattern.

I used a few colors of Copic markers here – G99, G94 and YG03. This is one of new-to-me green color combos that I have been enjoying using lately. Once my coloring was done I adhered my stamped panel on A2 card base (I didn’t color on the base of the card directly as I didn’t want the ink to seep to the other side of the paper) and added a punny sentiment from the same Platintiful Puns stamp set. I went with one that reads “This is the only plant I haven’t killed yet. It’s for you. You’re welcome”.

I myself am not quite like that with plants, I love to have several plants at home, but I am definitely no green thumb (my mom, on the other hand, has a big plant collection at home including some gorgeous orchids and rare plant species, too). We have several plants on our balcony that I try and remember to water daily to keep them growing.

To finish this card I used Tonic Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen and added loads of shimmer onto each of the colored images. I also embellished this card using with the help of Morning Dew drops by Nuvo.

  1. Yana, I love making my own background layers for my projects especially when I don’t have a patterned paper that matches. This makes each project so unique, I love this pun too. Thank you for sharing this project with us crafters. :O) xxxx
