In case you haven’t already seen, Simon Says Stamp has a new release and it’s a killer one! I received some goodies from this release a few days ago and was too excited to make a few cards. My favorite sets from the release are From the Rooftops and Best Friends and I used them both to make cards I’m sharing today.

CARDS DETAILS
I have been rather obsessed with the scoring technique lately (watch this video tutorial to learn about this technique) so I made simple scored backgrounds for these cards using my scoring board and bone folder (the one I have and use is discontinued, so I am linking to a similar one). One background was made using white paper and the other one – light pink from Simon Says Stamp.
I stamped the mountains image using Simon’s Intense Black ink and colored mountains using my go-to green marker color combo – YG99, YG95 and YG93. I didn’t have coordinating dies (I’m waiting for them to arrive any day) so I cut my mountains out using scissors. I also stamped a speech bubble and cut it out in the same way.
I felt like my card needed a character to it, somebody that would be actually doing the shouting, so I stamped the elephant from the Best Friends stamp set, colored him using gray markers – C5, C3 and C1 and once again cut out using scissors. I foam mounted all of my cut out elements onto the scored background, stamped additional sentiment and foam mounted my panel onto an A2 side folding card. I used silver and gold confetti to embellish my cards.
Here’s a look at the pink card I created in the same way. I switched up the sentiment and made it into a Valentine’s Day card:
I also used other animals for this card – a rabbit (not sure if this is a rabbit, but he/she is hilarious) and a hippo! I forgot to mention that I added tiny googly eyes onto these – I think they made these critters that much more funny!
I feel like I’ll be using this scoring technique a lot! I love the look and it’s relatively easy to make a bunch of backgrounds at once. I look forward to scoring some at 3/4″ intervals and making vertical score lines as well. And of course I can’t get enough of these new sets from Simon! I plan to share more inspiration soon, so stay tuned!
