Simon Says Stamp | Poinsettia Swag Card. Festive Fun Release Blog Hop

Hello friends! I’m thrilled to join Simon Says Stamp for their Festive Fun Release Blog Hop. I have a Christmas card to share made with the new Poinsettia Swag stamp set + coordinating dies. This is what I call a “true Yana card” with a dark background and lots of drama!

CARD DETAILS

I started working on this card by heat embossing the Poinsettia image in Antique Gold embossing powder on Simon’s #130 LB cardstock. Next, I colored this image using my go-to colors of Copic Markers: R22, R24, R27, R39 (poinsettia, I also used Faber Castel colored pencils to add some fine line details); YG03, YG63, YG67 (leaves). I used the coordinating die and cut the image out along with a heat-embossed “Joy to the World” sentiment.

I used a white pen and added dot detail to the berries and line detail to the poinsettia. I also splatter white pigment all over this die cut.

I used a black card base (I love the drama this provides), added a white panel for the inside of the card to be able to write a message on the inside. Next, I cut a panel of Fog cardstock to 3 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ and stamped Old Letter in watermark ink for a tone on tone look, I foam mounted this in the center of my black card base.

Next, I foam mounted my die cuts and added the gold gems to embellish this card. Love the result!

  1. This is absolutely gorgeous! I never would have thought to use both markers and pencils, but the depth and texture it adds to the image is amazing. I have some poinsettia stamps and foil plates for making my cards this year, after seeing this I’m excited to use them so I can try this technique. Thank you!
