Hello all and thank you for joining us as we celebrate the new product release from Simon Says Stamp called Reason to Smile. Yay! This release has stamps, dies, embossing powders, and even includes felt!
I’m sharing a fun Easter card today and squeezing in a bit of creative die cut masking.
Like this project? Remember to pin it and save for later!
CARD DETAILS
I started working on this card by creating hills for my bunny to sit on. I used my favorite Wavy Scalloped Stitches dies and cut two out of white cardstock. Next I made a mask and masked off the scalloped part (I wanted to keep it white) and stamped the Gingham pattern using Willow ink onto the rest of the die cut. This way I was able to create colorful hills with white scalloped borders. I am explaining how to make a mask for the hills on my video, however I admit, I probably over did it, lol! There definitely is an easier was to make a mask.
I also blended a bit of blue High Dive ink onto the card base to create the sky. That helped the scallops from the top hill to stand out a bit better. The bunny was stamped using new Intense Black ink and colored using a few colors of Copic Markers (I used E000, E00 and R20). Easter eggs were stamped in Duckling, Twirling Tutu and Catkin and were die cut using a matching die.
I also die cut two church buildings for this card as I felt I needed to add something to fill in the background. The sentiment, Oh Hippity Hop was stamped in Versa Fine Onyx Black and was foam mounted onto the card. I also added several clear droplets from Pretty Pink Posh as little accents onto my card.

Great cards and I love the whole release
Hi Yana, enjoyed the video. I paryicularly liked the way you did the rolling hills. It was ALL BETTER done to animal noises, seriously I loved that. Please reply and tell me what the animals were. I am thinking 3 or 4 different kinds of monkeys or chimpanzees? Sri Lanka? And you had all that great equipment with to do this video and pick up all that great background audio.
Do you need an assistant? I really like your daffodil card too!

Oh, I learned SO much from your video!! Thank you so much!! I love the masking technique you used and will certainly be trying that out! And your sky technique is fabulous too. Your card is so adorable and just perfect for Easter. I am certain that the recipient will be simply delighted with it.
My favourite from the new release? That’s too hard to answer!! But, if I must, I’ll say the daffodil set (I’m cheating… that’s actually two items!) as daffodils are my utmost favourite flower and always make me think of my Gran.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday!

I so totally see why its called “Reason to Smile” because so far everything that everyone has done with their cards and all the new stuff is has me smiling as wide as the Golden Gate Bridge! LOL Your cards are beautiful and since yellow is my favorite color, I see you used it a lot on the daffodils. Those bunnies are so adorable! I love everything. Nice job.
Both of your cards are a hit! The gingham backgrounds are so soft and appealing. I like the bunny and eggs on the same card with churches for the Easter holiday. Those daffodil stamps can’t be beat.
