Simon Says Stamp | More Nautical Encouragement Cards - We cannot direct the wind but we can adjust the sails

Hello, friends! As promised, today I’m sharing a few more encouragement cards featuring the nautical theme and of course Simon’s latest Rest & Refresh products. This release has me feeling all inspired and eager to rush back to my crafty corner to make cards! (if only there was more time to create). I even reorganized my craft area the other day, installed some new pieces from IKEA, but this is something I’ll share in another post.

ADJUST THE SAILS CARD – DETAILS

I stamped another scene using beautiful images from the Your Light stamp set. This time instead of using rays of light with the lighthouse image I used them to represent the sun. I’m thinking these can also be used to represent the wind/movement when stamped off to the side, next to the boat. I’ll have to try that.

I also added plenty of clouds to my sky and even more seagulls. Having the seagulls stamps in 2 sizes helps to create depth for my scene – the larger seagulls appear in the foreground while smaller seagulls are flying in the background.

Copic markers were used to color both of the cards, the one above and the one below. I used the same Copic marker colors as listed HERE. To create a background for this card I used a Nautical Stripes stencil. I didn’t do any precise ink blending but rather used a Copic marker’s brush and chisel nibs to create loose stripe background. I used a B00 marker and ended up with a beautiful faint background. I enjoyed this type of background created with a stencil & marker and must try this again.

HOLD FAST CARD – DETAILS

I mentioned this in my previous post, but I’ll say it again – I love this Your Light stamp set not only for the beautifully illustrated images but also for matching meaningful sentiments. Going through a very difficult time in my life this is the kind of stamp set I can’t seem to put down as stamping messages like “Hold fast in this storm dear friend” I can’t help but think of my personal struggles, and how all things in life go in stripes, if you will, in phases. After a dark one, there’s always one that brings light.

To make a background for this card I used a beautiful new background stamp set – Anchors. With the help of my MISTI stamping tool, this background was stamped in 2 colors of ink – Audrey Blue and Maliblue. I stamped it one row at a time masking the previous one to achieve this look.
