Hello friends! As promised, I have more cards to share featuring Simon Says Stamp new Friendly Frolic release. I made a number of cards, filmed videos for some and I will continue making projects and sharing them here and on my social accounts. Today I have a trio of cards using the Diamond Pattern 6×6 cling background stamp. I mentioned is was one of my favorites in my previous post.

CARDS DETAILS
I didn’t use this stamp as is for any of the cards I’m sharing today. Instead, I played a bit with a “step stamping” technique where I stamped image once, next moved the paper a bit in a certain direction and stamped image again forming a different pattern. It’s pretty cool and I was amazed at how many different variations I was able to create by moving my paper in different directions for the 2nd and even 3rd impressions.
I went with light gray and light blue colors for these cards as I was in that kind of mood when I was making them. You can definitely switch up the colors to more vibrant/summer/fall/you pick. For my first card, Dreams, I stamped background using Smoke dye ink from Simon. I moved my paper and stamped same background again to create an “X” mark. Looks a bit like stitching. I did use stamp platform for my stamping to make it easier to align things.
I added a stamped and die-cut word “Dreams” from Cathy’s Yes You Can stamp set (cut out using a coordinating die), added “Come True With Hard Work” sentiment and created a dimensional butterfly by stamping same butterfly image 3 times using Maliblue, Audrey Blue and High Dive and cutting them out using a coordinating die. You can see a close up of my dimensional butterfly below:
I also used Tonic Studios Nuvo Drops in Duck Egg Blue and added several accents here and there. This color, along with Gloss White and Morning Dew is one of my favorites and most used so I have it in a Jumbo size bottle.
My next card, Yay, features almost the same pattern. This time instead of just stamping I heat embossed it in white embossing powder onto Simon’s Fog cardstock. My “X” didn’t align as well this time, but they still look pretty cool, I think.
I stamped and die-cut “Yay” using Winter Sky dye ink and I also stamped “I Knew You Could Do It” sentiment in same ink color and added both onto my card. I also die-cut identical “Yay” out of sticky fun foam to be able to foam mount it onto my project. Lastly, I used Nuvo Drops in Morning Dew to embellish this card.
My last project features a two-tone patten stamped in a slightly different way. Instead of an “X” I have something that looks like “V” or a check mark. I used Smoke and Sparrow inks to stamp this. I also die-cut a heart in the center of this panel and added “You Have A Kind Heart” sentiment along with several Nuvo Drops in Oyster Gray.

Very Pretty!!!
Lovely cards!
These are really pretty Yana, the stacked butterflies are super cute on your ‘Dreams’ card. I also like the pale shades of all of these cards, very soothing colours.
Gorgeous cards! I love the background design!!
Great techniques, Yana! Am amazed at how different each card looks just by moving the stamp a bit! I love them all!
Your cards are so pretty! I love the backgrounds you created and the dimensional butterfly is really cool 🙂
Gorgeous colour combo, new one to me, fantastic how just by moving the paper you got more great techniques. Great way to get far more out of your stash, thanks.
Soft colors and innovative way to use the stamp differently. Thank you for sharing this idea.
Gorgeous cards, Yana! I love the subtle backgrounds and your two-tone pattern on the last card is awesome…great color palette for a masculine card!
GREAT CARDS!!!
Yana what a clever idea, using a patterned background stamp and creating 3 more different patterns using it extending its use. The second stamp is not an incorrect ‘x’ stitch it is actually called a ‘herringbone stitch’ so you did create a stitch in fact. Such a clever idea and I certainly will be looking at my background stamps in a different light in future. Thank you for sharing this with us crafters. :O) xxx
