Simon Says Stamp | Merry Christmas Poinsettia Card

The other day I had a few much needed hours all to myself and I was happy to sit down in my cozy craft corner and whip up some traditional Christmas cards. I find it very therapeutic to just rummage through my supplies, pull out this and that and see if I can make a card using it.

CARD DETAILS

To make this card I first white heat embossed one of Simon Says Stamp Cling Background stamps, Poinsettia, in Detail White embossing powder on Fog cardstock. This create the perfect backdrop for the rest of the card.

Next, I pulled out an older set with a beautiful outline poinsettia image. I stamped in in Intense Black ink and colored using my Copic markers. I used: R39, R27, R24, R22 and Y17 to color the flower and G99, G94 and YG03 to color the leaves. There’s a coordinating die available to go along with these images, so I used mine to cut these out in my Platinum die cutting machine.

To form the focal point for this card I cut a piece of white cardstock to a small rectangle, stamped a beautiful stamp image in light gray ink (I positioned it coming off the edge) and next adhered my poinsettia on top using foam adhesive and glue.

I was struggling to find a place for a sentiment, so I backed the white rectangle with a slightly larger rectangle in red and white heat embossed “Merry Christmas” by combining sentiments from two different sets – Christmas Cheer & Tiny Words Christmas.

Lastly, I foam mounted the panels onto my background which was already adhered on to an A2 white side folding card base and embellished the card using white and gold flat sequins.
