Simon Says Stamp | Life With You Is A Blast

When Summer comes all I want to do is sit outside in the shade, eat some ice cream and enjoy a good book. I don’t often get a chance to do that, but when I do – it’s a real treat. The thought of ice cream and hot Summer days inspired this simple card. If you’d like to know how to make it – see details below.

CARDS DETAILS

I started by heat embossing Anchors background in Antique Gold embossing powder on dark blue cardstock. Gold and Navy are a classic and always look stunning together so I knew this background would look great in gold on blue.

After adhering the background onto A2 card base I stamped a simple focal point – an image of ice cream and a sentiment that reads: “Dear Friend, Life With You Is a Blast“.

At first, I colored ice cream yellow, but that didn’t look good at all, so I stamped the same image again on a scrap piece of paper, used B000, B00 and B02 Copic markers to color it light blue, cut it out and adhered overtop the original one. I also coated it with glossy accents to give it that gorgeous raized, wet look.

My Favorite Things | Underwater Scene Cards with Nothing but Markers (and critter stamps, too). Video

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog! In this video, I will show you how to create simple underwater…

  1. Hi ,
I love your videos/cards and follow you religiously. Thanks for all of your tips. I have this background stamp and I also knew it would look great on dark Navy paper with gold embossing, but no matter how much I prepare it with my embossing buddy, some how the embossing powder gets everywhere and my final product is a mess. Any tips on how to keep embossing powder neat when using on Dark paper when using large background stamp?

    1. Hey, Jennifer! Sometimes it is really hard to get it to look neat. Once I pour embossing powder onto the paper I then use a small dry paintbrush and brush away any stray embossing powder particles. I also sometimes use a pokey tool to remove them, if they are in a particularly hard to get spot.
Also, some embossing powders have the “anti static” component built into them directly, I think it’s powders from WOW and thus they “behave” better on paper sticking only to the inked areas. I’ve not tried them myself. Hope this helps!
