CARD DETAILS
I used one of my previous cards (from last year) as inspiration for this project – funny giraffe card. I started working on this card by stamping images I wanted to color in Simon’s Intense Black ink onto white cardstock. I colored these using Copic markers as this is what I’m most used to (while I love to color with pencils I have very little experience coloring critters with the colored pencils and feel more comfortable coloring these with markers).
I always tend to use same Copic colors and color combos when I color. I shared my favorite and most used combos in this post here. If you are just starting to collect Copic markers you might find that post useful.
I cut my images out using coordinating dies in my Platinum die cutting machine. There’s no die for the heart, so I stamped it in Lipstick Red and cut out using scissors.
To create a background I used one of the coolest background stamps for the Holiday Season – Falling Snow and heat embossed it in Puff embossing powder onto Simon’s Sea Glass cardstock. I think these two products (the background stamp and puff embossing powder) are just made for each other! Love how I’m able to easily add snow to any project using these supplies.
I adhered my background onto an A2 side folding card base and foam mounted my colored images on top. My sentiment, Here Comes Santa Paws, was heat embossed in white embossing powder onto red cardstock, trimmed into skinny strips with v-shape ends also foam mounted onto my card.
Lastly, I added a generous amount of shimmer to the background using Tonic Aqua Shimmer pen – you can’t see any of it in the protos, but it does show up in the video at the very end.
