Hello, friends! How is this the end of April already? I can’t believe time goes by so fast. Today I have ink blended & heat embossed encouragement card to share using a few goodies from Simon Says Stamp.
I’ve mentioned this in the past when I feel down and helpless (we all have these moments, don’t we?) I like to make encouragement cards for myself; they help me get back on track and remember what’s important. This card is one of those.

VIDEO TUTORIAL
I have a quick, music only, video tutorial showing how to make this card from start to finish. Watch it below or on my Facebook page:
CARD DETAILS
To create this handmade card I first white heat embossed roses on white cardstock. I used Simon’s Bouquet of Roses stencil, an ink blending tool, and clear embossing ink to apply ink through the stencil onto white cardstock. Next, I covered it with White Embossing Powder and heat set, this gave me beautiful white roses on white cardstock.
Since white on white didn’t look like much, I decided to do some ink blending on the background to help roses pop. I wanted to try a radiating design, so I masked rays coming out from the top right-hand side corner of the panel and ink blended several colors of ink from Simon Says Stamp. I used Rosie Cheeks, Sunkist, Melon, Spring Rain, and Audrey Blue.
Once the ink blending was done I wiped the white embossing using a cloth spritzed with a bit of Ultra Clean (Hero Arts stamp cleaning solution) to remove any residual ink that was still sitting on the embossing powder.
After adhering the ink blended panel onto an A2 white side folding card base I added a simple, yet powerful sentiment – “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement“. I also added a small enamel heart and called this card done.
Do you make cards for yourself to help you cheer up? I find it very helpful and therapeutic and often make cards just to help me feel better.

Wonderful card with a lovely choice of colors and design! 🙂
thank you, so glad you like it!
Yana!!!! I’ve been wondering where you’ve been! I have on rare occasion sent myself a card (even mailed it to myself!). In general I make cards and that can cheer me up. Thanks for the reminder to put myself on my mailing/recipient list. As someone who experiences bouts of depression, I can get into a place of feeling helpless. If you’re going through a hard time, I’m sending you a hug from across the miles. The card you made is really pretty. I like the colors you blended on the background. FYI: I’m unable to play the video on your blog. (I don’t use facebook so I can’t speak to that.) Good to hear for you, thanks for sharing and hang in there.
Thanks so much, Debbie! My mom has fallen very ill and I’m by her side most of the time. It’s been hard. But we will get thought it and cards sure do help!
Sorry you can’t play the video, it must be a Facebook thing, but it’s super simple. Hugs!
So very sorry to hear about your mom’s illness. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to go through what you’re going through and wish there was something I could say or do to make it an easier time for you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your mom and your family. Hugs to you.
thank you, Debbie! I appreciate it! Hugs!
So lovely and the perfect encouragement card!
thank you, Heather! Sometimes making a card like this helps more than anything else
Lovely and seems easy enough to make by a newbie. Have yet to try stencils, at the moment learning to play with embossing folders.
What a great card, and it actually looks like a fairly simple technique, one even I could do! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Suzi! It really is simple! I have been avoiding doing complex techniques, simple and quick is the way to go for me. I hope you’ll give it a go!
Really Beautiful card!!!!
thank you so much, Maureen! so glad you like it!
Love it! Thank you for sharing your card and for posting the video.
