Last Spring my Mom was diagnosed with stomach cancer. She has had her surgery and 7 rounds of chemo since. It has been a very difficult experience, to say the least. Lots of tears, lots of worries. But so far so good. She had her bi-annual CT scan a few days ago and it showed that everything is good. We are both happy and relieved. I’m going over to see her later today and I’m bringing over this card. I made it several days ago thinking of her, her strength and courage.

CARD DETAILS
To create a background for this card, I used a new-to-me product from Tonic Studios, Crackle Mousse. I have a video showing how to use these mousses (and showing how to make this crackle background) coming next week. I used Russian White mousse and Simon’s Heart Mandala stencil. I cut my background to 4 x 5 1/4″ and foam mounted onto the A2 white side folding card base.
The circle panel was created using an ink pad technique I am teaching in the latest class from Online Card Classes – Spring Cards Camp 2. I used several colors of ink to make it: Duckling, Lemon Zing, Sunshine (from Simon), Soft Pink and Pink to Red Ombre from Hero Arts. I cut the panel out using a circle die from Spellbinders.
To create a sentiment for this card I stamped “Mama” in black ink on white cardstock and cut it out using a coordinating die. I cut this sentiment out 4 more times from scrap cardstock and adhered layered together to add dimension to this piece. I also stamped “I Love You” on a piece of white cardstock and “You will always be the woman I aspire to become” directly on the circle.
Finally, I embellished this card using sequins from Simon’s Girls Best Friends sequins mix. Now I’m off to get ready and go hug my mama.

I’m so happy your mom’s recent test came back good. That is so encouraging. This card is adorable, and should certainly brighten her day.
thank you, Kathy. I’m so glad my mom’s treatment worked. Mom loved the card, we both cried a bit. It was a good day.
Glad to hear your mom, you and your family received such hopeful news. Given your close relationship with her and the courage/strength she demonstrated to you during her health challenges, the sentiment on this card couldn’t be more fitting. I hope she liked it. Thank you for sharing the card idea and the story that goes along with it. Be well.
thank you, Debbie, she loved it. She opened it and cried a bit (and so did I). It certainly was a very hard time for us. But I’m so glad it is over.
Oh Yana, I’m pleased to hear that your mum has received some good news. You must all be so relieved. I’m sure she loved your card. It’s beautiful and thank you for sharing this with us today. Blessings to you both.
we were relieved, thank you! Now we just need to keep up with the scans, next one would be in November. Thank you! Big hugs!
I’m so pleased to hear that your mum is doing well. It must have been a very scary time for all of you. I’m certain your mum must be very proud of her super-talented daughter. The card is stunning.
Thank you, Tracey! We still have a long road ahead of us, but I’m glad we got positive news 🙂
