I was looking through my stash of cards the other day in search of a simple one to gift to someone who is not from the cardmaking world, in other words, clueless about handmade cards. I knew I needed something simple, with a straightforward sentiment, some pretty flowers in regular colors and on a light background. And guess what? I have zero cards like that in my stash. Zero. Often (okay, let’s be honest, always!) I get so carried away with my card designs and trying all the new things/products/techniques that I forget about the basics – simple love for cardmaking and simple cards.

So this morning I woke up unusually early and instead of staying in bed for a few extra minutes whipped up a quick card. I love this card. I love the soft colors, I love the delicate flowers, I love the simple sentiment. I need to make more cards like this.
CARD DETAILS
I used a few tricks to make this card. Trick #1 – I first stamped all images using my mini MISTI tool in black Copic marker friendly ink. After coloring images with Copics and letting them sit for about 5 minutes (allowing for the ink to dry), I heat embossed image outlines in Antique Gold embossing powder. If you look closely you can see a faint black shadow/line next to some images. Completely unintentional, but looks great I think.
Trick #2 – to make a background for this card I dry embossed Fog cardstock panel using a stencil. I love to emboss with stencils, especially with those that have a simple geometric design. I did cut the panel just 1/8″ shy of 5 1/2″ tall and adhered it to A2 white card base revealing a bit of a white base at the bottom. Love this look, I need to remember to do this again.
I foam mounted the frame (everything was cut out using coordinating dies) and adhered additional leaves using glue. To create a sub sentiment I used yet another trick, trick #3 – I colored a piece of white cardstock using the darkest pink markers I used for coloring flowers (RV34), let it dry and white heat embossed “You’re Amazing”. This resulted in a perfectly coordinated paper and coloring.
Finally, I used clear droplets to embellish this card. I love how it turned out. Do you?

Very sweet card!
Your card is gorgeous! I love the embossed background and coloring of the beautiful image. 🙂
Ooh so pretty!! Your card is amazing 🙂
I have the same experience!! Lately I’ve been trying to just get back to some basics instead of trying to do something fancy using all kinds of “tricks”. It’s been a pleasurable experience. Very pretty card, Yana. Love the colors. I keep forgetting that I can use stencils to emboss a background (and many of my stencils are either not large enough to cover a background or too large to fit thru my die cutting machine … but some are “just right”!!!). Thanks for the reminder to simple is good and back to basics work!!!!!
I just love this card Yana! Thank you for sharing some of your tips 🙂
I get overwhelmed with all the new products! Besides the never ending releases! Back to basics is good! Lovely card as always❤️
Really Beautiful card!!!
