Simon Says Stamp | Diagonal Cut Cards

Diagonal cut cards used to be super popular several years ago, and I recall seeing one for the first time in a printed magazine. I remember the time when I would receive a print cardmaking magazine in the mail (there were several fabulous publications at the time), rush to open it, and flip through while sipping a cup of coffee.

CARDS DETAILS

The cards I am sharing today feature a simple diagonal cut (angled cut). Both cards feature the same background, I made one panel, then cut it at an angle, and used both pieces – one for each card.

I heat embossed Spring Blooms Background in white embossing powder on Sea Glass cardstock, after cutting the background diagonally I had 2 panels which I planned to use on 2 cards. To create a sentiment for my projects, I used the Slimline Beautiful You stamp set and stamped the large “Beautiful” diagonally in Versafine Onyx Black and embossed it in clear embossing powder. This is a long sentiment and one that won’t fit on an A2 card if stamped straight. So stamping diagonally works here and it provides a little more room.

Next, I added additional sentiment stamping to finish the sentiments for these cards. I foam mounted the embossed background panels and embellished the cards using Sparkling Clear jewels from Pretty Pink Posh.

These are super simple cards, and easy to make too. I had fun coming up with this design. I hope you’ll give this a try!
