Pink & Main | Colorful Butterfly Cards 2 Ways. Photo Tutorial

Hello friends! Today I have a fun photo tutorial to share featuring stamps from Pink & Main. It’s one background – 2 cards kind of post today with some emboss resist, die cutting and lots of color!

CARD DETAILS

I started making these cards by heat embossing a beautiful Butterfly background in white embossing powder onto white cardstock panel and blending various colors of Distress inks. It’s been ages since I used my Distress ink and it was fun to get them out of the dusty drawer and give them some love.

I used the following colors for a classic color combo: Picked Raspberry, Wild Honey, Tumbled Glass. Instead of using Ranger’s blending foams I used Tool ‘n One blending foams from Spellbinders on the mini round ink blending tools. They are different in texture and pick up ink and apply it so much more easily. I’m able to get more color quicker and with less hand pressure.

I used a beautiful Butterfly You Can Fly die and die-cut 3 partial butterflies in my background creating enough pieces to make 2 cards. I foam mounted positive butterfly die cuts onto an A2 white card base (using the negative piece as a guide).

I added a simple sentiment from the You Can Fly stamp set white heat embossed on black and filled in the open negative space with lots of colorful Nuvo Drops. I don’t think I’ve ever used this many on a project at once!

For my second card I did something a bit more elaborate. I used negative die cut background as a guide to gold heat emboss butterflies in the openings. Next, I foam mounted my background on top, added Spread Your Wings sentiment and embellished my card with Nuvo drops in black. Simple, colorful and quick!
