Hello, everyone! Today I am sharing 3 of my favorite and most used die-cutting techniques. These are very simple and will work with most dies out there. I have 3 card ideas to show you, each showcasing at least one of those techniques.
If you are new to die cutting – I highly recommend you give these a try! You are going to love them! And if you’ve been die-cutting for several years now – you’ve probably already tried all of these, but it is never a bad idea to try an old technique again!

NEGATIVE DIE CUTTING
My number one favorite die-cutting technique is negative cutting. It is as simple as it sounds. Instead of using a positive die cut piece, the pop-out piece, you use what’s left behind, a negative piece.

INLAY DIE CUTTING
My 2nd favorite technique is inlay die-cutting. This again can be used with all sorts of dies, especially background dies, but it works well for small die-cut shapes too. The idea is to inlay a part of the design with a different/contrasting color cardstock. Here I inlayed the mirror gold wreath into a foiled kraft background.
Products used: Neenah Desert Storm cardstock, Spellbinders Skinny Stripe Background plate, Gold Foil, Spellbinders Cameo Die, Spellbinders Mini Sincere Sentiments
OFFSET DIE CUTTING
My 3rd favorite technique has already been featured on the 2 other cards, I use it very often. It is offset, or layer & offset die-cutting. The idea is you die cut the same element twice – once from your main color cardstock and once from the shadow color cardstock. You layer the main piece on the shadow one and you offset it just a bit to have that shadow show.
Products used: Hero Arts Peony cardstock, Spellbinders Specialty Glimmer paper, Spellbinders Simply Perfect Florets embossing folder, Spellbinders Essential Glimmer Label + Coordinating Die, Gold Foil, Spellbinders Cameo Die, Spellbinders Mini Sincere Sentiments

Lovely die and cards. Very classy! Thank you.
Always good to be reminded of these techniques. They maybe “simple” but they are so effective. You cards are always a beautiful meld of color, impeccable layouts and great accessories. Like Coco Chanel you have just the right amount of embellishment to make the card sophisticated and beautiful. These designs will surely stand the test of time!
Stunning !
