MFT Stamps | Interactive Raccoon Birthday Cards. Video

Hello, stampers! Today I am creating an interactive Birthday card using the MFT Little Rascal stamp set! This is the type of interactive card where you don’t need any additional supplies, you can make it using the products you already have in your stash.

CARD DETAILS

The card features a mini card on the font with an additional hidden message. It is super easy to make and it just adds a cool wow effect to your finished project. First, I stamped the images in alcohol marker-friendly ink and colored them using Copics: C10, C7, C5, C3, C1, RV00, and a colorless blender. The grass was colored using YG17 and YG03. Next, I cut these out using coordinating dies.

To create a sentiment I heat embossed one that reads “Happy Birthday You Little Rascal” in white embossing powder on black cardstock and cut it out using a rectangle die.

I wanted to add an interactive element to my card and I decided that it was easy to use by adding a simple shape onto the front of my card that would open. Think about it as adding a mini card on the front of your regular-size card. I used a circle die and I die cut a mini-circle card base. It has a little fold and the circle shape opens up. I also die-cut another white circle to cover up the fold. You can have your shape open in any direction, it can open to the top, to the side, to the bottom – whatever you prefer.

I added a stamped sentiment on the inside of the circle, it reads “You’re the Best Partner in Crime”. And it continues the sentiment on the outside of the card. Next, I assembled the images on the front of the mini-circle card using foam adhesive.

The key here, I think, is to have a 2-part sentiment, you stamp one part of the sentiment on the front and have the sentiment continue on the inside of your mini card. The mini card does open very easily, there’s no secret hidden mechanism, nothing for the recipient to figure out, so they’ll be able to open it up very easily and see that 2nd part of the sentiment.

Okay, next I worked on the background for this card and I wanted to have a raccoon background, I didn’t have a raccoon background stamp, so I stamped my own custom background using the same images, plus the other raccoon images in my stamp set. I did the stamping using watermark ink, this gave me a very faint, very pale tone-on-tone stamping which is just perfect, it was exactly what I was looking for to have on this card.

I adhered my background to the A2 card and foam mount the circle mini card on top. I used a t-square ruler to make sure everything adhered straight and finally, I finished my card by adding a few sequins – I just scattered them diagonally on my card.
