Hello, friends. How is this already the end of September? I refuse to believe it is already Fall (although, how funny is that because I am already making Christmas cards. Oh well). Welcome back for another My Favorite Things tutorial. Have you seen the Christmas Cardinals stamp set from MFT yet? If not, you have to check it out. Possibly the funniest Christmas stamp set ever. I know I’ll be using this one for years and years to come.

I actually have 2 cards to share today, both using the same stamp set. I love to make as many cards as I can using just one set. Not only does that allow me to challenge my mojo, but it also often shows the creative value of the set. And for this stamp set, that value is off the charts!
CARD DETAILS – BRIGHTER HOLIDAYS
Follow these steps to re-create this card:
- Stamp both Christmas Tree images several times onto Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock using Memento Tudexo Black ink. Use MISTI to make your stamping easier.
- Stamp Cardinal and branch using the same supplies.
- Color trees with Copic markers. I used the following:
- Starting with the darkest color, G99, flick the color from the middle of the tree onto the branches. Use a light hand and a flicking motion.
- Next, use medium color, G94, flicking more color extending it further into the branches, but not to the end.
- Finally, used the lightest green, YG03, and extend the flicks to the end of the branches.
- Used E37 and E33 to color the trunk of the tree brown.
- Use a white Sakura pen to add snow to the trees.
- Color the branch and cardinal. I used the following:
- Cut these images out using coordinating dies.
- Arrange tree die cuts to create a forest background on light blue cardstock. Adhere some trees using glue, other with foam squares. Shape the trees a bit with fingers before gluing them down.
- Adhere background to A2 white card base.
- White heat emboss the sentiment on the red cardstock panel. Trim to a banner shape and foam mount onto the card.
- Foam mount branch and cardinal.
- Add falling snow to the background using a Jane Davenport Story Time Paint Pen.
- Embellish the card with small clear droplets.
CARD DETAILS – LOTS OF HAPPY WISHES CARD
I have one more card idea to share with you. For this card, I wanted to make a Christmas wreath and place the cardinal in the center.
Follow these steps to re-create this card:
- Stamp 8 holly branches onto Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock using Memento Tudexo Black ink. Use MISTI to make your stamping easier.
- Color images using 2 sets of green markers.
- Add highlights using a white Sakura pen.
- Cut the images out using the coordinating die.
- Build a wreath using the die cuts. It is helpful to draw a circle shape with a pencil and follow that shape when building the wreath.
- Stap 8 fern-like leaves in the same black ink and color it using the same Copic markers. Cut out using a coordinating die. Add branches to the wreath.
- Stamp and color another bird (use the same colors as for the card above), cut out with coordinating die.
- White heat embossed the sentiment on the red cardstock panel. Trim to a banner shape and foam mount onto the card.
- Foam mount the bird.
- Add falling snow to the background using a Jane Davenport Story Time Paint Pen.
- Embellish the card with small clear droplets.

What fun cards, Yana! The little bird is so adorable and I love the way you colored it. The pop of red for the sentiment was a great idea and really adds a lot to the card, including an additional cheery feel. Such fun. I’m in the process of trying to buy my first home so I’m on restriction from buying craft supplies until I get to the other side of this process. BUT(!), I am watching what’s coming out this year (using great restraint!) so when I get to the other side of this purchase I have an idea of what I’d like to get for next year’s Christmas cards. Thank you, Yana
Gorgeous cards Yana!!!
Cute cards, loved the blue background. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us!
Hi Yana 🙂 Your two cards are adorable!!! It’s so easy to follow along with you! You’re a terrific teacher! Thanks for helping us stretch our craft supplies too….especially since I’m not getting out during this time.
Fantastic cards. Great tips. Thank you.
