MFT Stamps | Cats Pattern Stamping. Video

Hello, stampers! Welcome back for another video tutorial. In this video, I am creating a card for my favorite purrrson using the MFT Cattitude stamp set and pattern stamping technique!

I wanted to create a background filled with playful cats, I stamped 3 cat images 3 times onto white cardstock using my mini MISTI, giving me 9 images in total. I also stamped several balls of yarn, as little filler elements for my kitty background.

Next, I used coordinating dies and cut the images out in my die-cutting machine. Alternatively, you can create a one-layer card by doing only stamping and skipping any die cutting, if you prefer, by stamping your pattern directly onto your card base and building it as you stamp it.

Next, I used my Copic markers and added a touch of color to each of my kitties. The idea for this card was to keep the cat coloring to a minimum, instead bringing the color in using a colored background and adding color to the yarn. I used a C9 Copic marker to color the cat’s nose, ears, and tail black. I didn’t do any shading and kept the cats all white. I also used R20 to color the tongue pink.

I decided I wanted to add some spot coloring too, so I colored an area around the eye black as well, it did color over the eye and made the eye disappear, but I drew it back in using a white pen. You can add more spots to your kitties, and you can also use a different color marker, maybe orange or brown, peach, or whatever you want. I wanted to do something that was very easy and doable in terms of coloring.

I also colored yarn and for that, I used just a single YG03 marker, so all of the yarn was colored green. The color scheme I planned for this card was blue, green, and white with touches of black.

I used a panel of light blue cardstock for the background of my card, I wanted to have the cats sit on a colorful background, and using colored cardstock is the easiest way to do that. I used one of the sentiment stamps from this set, cut it apart and arranged it to be a 2-line message, and stamped it in the center of the panel, slightly toward the top. With that done, I sorted my colored and die-cut elements and started building my background. This is one of my favorite things to do – it is like putting a puzzle together.

Next, I used long-blade scissors and trimmed the excess images off to contain my pattern within the background. At this point, I used a C3 Copic marker to add shading under each element. The shading is barely visible, but it does add a bit of interest to the card.
