Now that the Summer is over, Holiday season is not that far away so it’s time to start thinking about Christmas cards. I’ve already made quite a few this year, I’ve shared some here and will be sharing more in the coming weeks. This particular card was made for Hero Arts Winter 2017 Catalog using Hero’s two new stamp sets – DC218 Christmas Banner Stamp & Cut and S6252 Classic Christmas Tree stamps.

CARD DETAILS
I started working on this project by heat embossing Christmas Tree in white embossing powder onto red cardstock. Red, white and green always make a fantastic Holiday color combo so whenever I’m in doubt which colors to use I use these. The Christmas Tree rubber stamp is a gorgeous image that can be used in variety of ways – it can be colored with Copics, watercolored, colored for a no-line look or it can be simply heat embossed. While I love to color I don’t always have the time to color large images in details, so instead I turn to colored cardstock to add color.
I did use a bit of watercolor here and colored lights and ornaments in various shades of gold. I used very little water and a lot of pigment since my image was heat embossed onto regular, non watercolor cardstock. To make my card a bit more festive I heat embossed the edge of my main panel (cut to 4 x 5 1/4″) in gold embossing powder and also added droplets of gold watercolor.
Card Tip: Heat emboss edges of the background panel with gold embossing powder to make it look like the panel is dipped in gold.
I heat embossed 2 doves next to the thee and colored them almost white. To create a sentiment for this card I heat embossed a banner and sentiment from the Christmas Banner Stamp & Cut set onto pale green cardstock and cut it out with my scissors (I didn’t have a coordinating die when I was making my card).
