Hello friends and welcome to Hero Arts Summer 2016 Release Blog Hop, thanks so much for joining us! This hop marks the launch of new catalog products in Hero Arts Store! New catalog is filled with amazing products you don’t want to miss, lots of which are must haves!
I’ve already shared a number of projects using new stamps and dies (and you can check them out by following this link) so for this post I decided to create masculine cards, Father’s Day card to be specific using Dapper Dad stamp set.
Like this project? Remember to pin it and save for later!
VIDEO TUTORIAL
The video I am sharing today is slightly different. While I do show how to make these masculine cards I also share a lot about my creative process and the difficulties during it. Its a fun video, a little longer than my usual videos, but I really wanted to share it and show you that cardmaking isn’t always super easy. Enjoy (and please do let me know what you think)!

CARD DETAILS
If you’d like to re-create these cards begin by mounting several clear stamps from the Dapper Dad set onto a long clear block to create a strip made up of various images. I used a pair of shoes, a hat, a comb, glasses, watch, bow tie and another paid of glasses. You can add more images or use less if you like. Use Unicorn White ink, its a pigment ink, to stamp this design repeatedly onto kraft paper to create one large pattern.
To add some color to the background select another vibrant dye ink color you’d like to have over white, ink up your images (make sure to keep the images on the stamp and not re-mount them) and stamp in color over white, be sure to slightly offset the top layer creating a shadow (for some reason I call it a drop shadow, is that correct?). I used Hero Arts Hybrid Aquatic ink for my top layer, but I have also discovered that Forever Green looked nice.
Stamp the round sentiments onto white cardstock and cut them out. I used Pool to Navy ombre ink pad to stamp mine as Aquatic didn’t look quite the same as it looked on kraft. Adhere your stamped patters onto a card base, foam mount a sentiment, decorate with glitter tape and a few wood veneer stars.

Wow, another unique creation using the white ink technique that you taught earlier. I like the glimmer added at an angle to give it a more funky look. Super cute!
Oh, I love that you made a masculine card and I love this fun technique!
great technique, love your awesome card
Really cool cards!! Thanks for posting your great video and sharing your techniques.
So much work but the card is great
I love kraft paper cards! At first I thought you used a fun embossing paste or something to add dimension to your design but realized it was stamp layering. LOVE the look of it!
really cute cards! Thanks so much for the great ideas!
You give me such inspiration. You and all the others in the stamping community who make videos really help me make beautiful cards. Thank you.
Very cool card! You always have fabulous projects.
Thanks for the opportunity to win!!
Wow…this is a really interesting technique. Thanks for sharing it!
Very cute card!! Very original!
looks very dimensional
Love the beachy look. Great card!
Thank you for sharing a masculine card. Father’s Day is right around the corner and this Father’s Day card is too stinking cute!
Thanks for the tips! I love that effect!
great video and card – thanks for sharing your design process
The effect on this card is really eye catching and watching you create it was very informative. Gee, I always thought your desk was neat as a pin.
WOW! Great card….great video, I was wondering how you did that, looks fantastic! Oh your work space is cleaner than mine…that s all lol
Great card, this is a fun technique.
THANK YOU!!! I really love the process videos, especially from you “pros.” I got so excited that even YOU have little ‘failure’ stamps that you can turn into color experiments or even something else! I have the fanciest grocery lists in town! I just used a card “fail” to label my dessert yesterday so people would know what they were getting under the whipped topping layer! And your desk is NOT messy by the standards of this house! I don’t even have an excuse, since this is something I do for fun. I figure that my cards are worth $20-50 each when you factor what I spend on supplies divided by cards that actually get sent! I’ve said Enough: thank you.
This is a really cool card!
Thanks for the video Yana! I love seeing your card making process. You’ve convinced me that I need this stamp set for the men in my life!
Thank you for sharing the process. I thought it took me so long because I am not that creative….copying is a bit faster and easier.
Thanks for sharing. Love your videos.
Love your cards. Awesome.
great texture. . .
These cards are amazing! And I like that you shared your process in the video.
I love your use of the white pigment ink! Great results! Thanks for sharing!
Great colors for a masculine card. They don’t have to only be Brown right!
Thank you so much for sharing the “reality” of the true duration of time it takes to create a card. When I first started making cards I would get so frustrated that I couldn’t make a card in one sitting. But, I have learned over the years that I often need multiple sittings to be totally satisfied with my final product. It’s the creative process…
Love your video and honesty. Thanks for sharing on this hop!
My best cards are happy accidents… if I try to plan them out in advance I am always disappointed by the results. And, although I clean my desk after each card I make, oh my goodness, my creativity goes right out the window if I try to keep everything in order during the process. It was nice to hear that a card maker I respect greatly has similar struggles. Thank you for sharing your creative process, Yana!
I just loved your video about the reality of card making. My favorite part was when you pulled back and showed us your desk!!! Who knew 🙂 Thanks again, you make me feel so much better about my own process. Very helpful!
Love the blue you chose for this card.
Love your card and the color is amazing. It just screams summer.
Love your card and the color you chose to create it. It just screams summer. Thanks for sharing.
What a lovely card! I can’t wait to watch the video.
Thanks for the video & giveaway and have a great day!
Love this great color!
Great masculine cards. I loved your video. So great to know someone else has the same problems and issues that I have making cards. The idea I have in my head doesn’t make it to final project without a lot of redo’s, but, usually, the final result is worth the set backs. I get a lot of compliments on my cards and I love making them–most of the time. Some times I can’t get myself started. I also always have a mess when I finish which I hardly ever clean up right away. Bad habit, I know.
Nicely done.
Thank you for showing the reality of card making!
thanks for reminding me of a cool technique!
This is really great Yana, I love seeing the process. Helps save me time when I know what to do or what NOT to do.
