Hero Arts | Merry Christmas Card. Winter Catalog Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hero Arts | Merry Christmas Card

Hello there! Thank you for stopping by today to help celebrate the launch of Hero Arts Winter 2017 products (more about this hop, new products and giveaway below)! Having spent an entire Summer in Phoenix I am very excited and anxious for cooler weather and lower temperatures and especially for the Holiday season!

The card I am sharing today (along with other cards from me for the Winter catalog) was made back in June when it was unbearably hot and truth be told it was quite a challenge to get into a Holiday mood. Thankfully, Christmas tunes and ice cream helped!

CARD DETAILS

This card uses 3 new stamps: a gorgeous background stamp Christmas Poster (it’s a woodblock stamp so it also makes a great decor piece on a shelf, you can catch a part of it on my photo above and below); fabulous Merry Christmas Script sentiment (this one is also a woodblock one, there’s a similar one – Season’s Greetings that is also gorgeous) and Color Layering Holly – a must have clear set for stamping beautiful leaves.

Hero Arts | Merry Christmas Card

To create this card I first heat embossed Christmas Poster background onto an olive cardstock panel cut to 4 x 5 1/2″ (the Olive cardstock is from Simon and is unfortunately discontinued) in white embossing powder. To make the paper darker at the bottom I blended Forever Green ink going across the panel (I didn’t blend any at the top). The ink stained my heat embossing a bit, so I lightly wiped the card with a cloth sprayed with Hero’s Ultra Clean. I foam mounted my panel onto an A2 white top folding card base.

I also used same white embossing powder and heat embossed Merry Christmas sentiment onto a red cardstock panel and foam mounted it onto my card. To stamp the holly leaves and berries I used several shades of green and red (I’m listing all colors in the Supplies section below), cut them mount with my scissors (there are coordinating dies available, but I didn’t have them at the time) and adhered onto my card.

Lastly, I coated berries with some glitter using Wink Of Stella glitter pen and Glossy Accents.

  3. Yana beautiful card. Love the backgro9und stamp and you are right, the holly leaves are a must have.

  4. The olive green background is such a rich color for a holiday card. White embossing and the touches of red really pop on the olive. Thank you for the tip of cleaning embossing with a touch of stamp cleaner spray! Genius!

  5. I love this card idea. The background stamp is great, and the finished work has a subdued, retro feel that I really appreciate.

  6. Beautiful!! What a fabulous background stamp and the colour layering holly is gorgeous. Love them both!! I like the extra shading on the bottom of the card. It just adds a little something. A nice finishing touch

  11. Your card is awesome! Love that background stamp. I’m in Phoenix too and you are correct, it’s difficult to get into the Fall spirit. I need a trip up North to spot some leaves changing!

  12. Love this card! The poster stamp background is great, and I’ve already added it to my wishlist.

  13. Thanks for the inspiration. It is very hard to get into the Christmas cards making spirit when it is hot out. I will. Try your tip on listing to Christmas music.
