Hero Arts | Knightly Birthday Card. August 2019 My Monthly Hero Kit (Blog Hop + Giveaway)

Hello, stamping friends! How is this August already? Time really needs to slow down or we will be celebrating Halloween awfully soon. Today I’m excited to join Hero Arts for their August My Monthly Hero release. It’s a kind of a magical one – with knights and princesses, and dragons, and castles!

CARD DETAILS

I don’t have a video this time around (I have a lot of family/medical stuff going on which keeps me away from my craft room), what I do have is a fun Knightly Birthday Card. I used just the contents of the kit + colored cardstock and inks from my stash.

I wanted to have a night scene (I do love darker, vibrant colors on my cards more than anything else these days), so I started by making a night sky background by ink blended Navy ink onto Adriatic cardstock. I kept the pure color just barely at the horizon line and blended the rest with dark blue for a night sky look.

To create the grass I freehand cut Kiwi cardstock and ink blended it using Forever Green ink to darken it up at the bottom of the card.

Next, I stamped images from the main kit, colored them using Copic markers and cut out with the help of coordinating dies (which are included in the kit). I created a simple scene and added “Happy day of thy birth” sentiment at the top of the card.

The night sky looked a bit incomplete to me, so I added a number of stars using a white pen and gold shimmer pen. Love the result!
