Hello friends! I used to love to make all sorts of origami shapes when I was a little girl, my mom would teach me how to make frogs and all kinds of sail boats and other shapes, too bad I have forgotten how to make most of them. So to me, the Ori Kami stamp set from Altenew feels a bit special. I have a card using this set along with my all-time favorite Simple Shapes to share today.
Like this project? Pin it and save for later!
I started by heat embossing the elephant outline in Platinum embossing powder onto watercolor paper. I’m all out of my favorite Arches, so I’m using a new brand – Daler Rowney, not very happy with it, you can see my water coloring isn’t as nice here, but it will do for now. I used yellows and pinks (I can’t seem to let go of this color combo) from my Gansai Tambi set to color this image. Once it was dry I used a matching die to cut it out, although its a rather simple shape, it can easily be cut out using scissors.
To stamp the background I used the largest rectangle from the Simple Shapes set and several colors of ink – Warm Sunshine, Cotton Candy and Morning Frost. I alternated the colors and created a partial stamped background for my card. The sentiment was heat embossed directly onto the stamped panel and I used the same Platinum embossing powder I used to heat emboss the elephant.
I foam mounted my watercolor shape and added several clear sequins and drops from Pretty Pink Posh to finish this card.

Yes, I like what I see….your project is adorable! I sent my comment but the little ball just kept going and going…so, I am sending another! My hands don’t allow me to do origami, sooooo I enjoy using this stamp set to get the same feel for a card! Thanks for the inspiration!

Adorable little elephant! I love the watercoloring! Thanks for sharing. I always love what you come up with!
Love this card…so cheerful and I love the colors.
Fabulous card – your elephant is so cute! I haven’t tried origami yet – maybe one day. Thank you for the chance to win!
Fabulous watercolor origami card, Yana!
I love origami since I was at elementary and now my daughters are having fun making easy origami papers 🙂
Cute card. I like the look of origami. My oldest son used to love making shapes from folded paper.
I’ve done origami before and I really like it. But once I made my shapes I didn’t know what to do with them so I didn’t keep it up.
I love your card, the colors are wonderful! I have tried origami because I thought it was lovely. Mine never turned out right. I still love the look of it though.
Love your card I don’t think there is one in existence I don’t like And YES I like oragami I learned a little while on a field trip to our local Chinese mueseum in Elementary school and have been fascinated by it since all those fun things one can my just by folding a piece of paper now I don’t know alot but all the more fun to learn some more.
I love the origami stamp set. Your card is just so cute.
I love oragami but I’ve never tried doing it. Great card and thanks for the giveaway!
What a beautiful card! I am always impressed with your watercoloring. I have little experience with origami, but it is certainly intriguing.
What a lovely card and the background really adds to the unique shape of the elephant!! I love origami even though I have never tried to do it. I do have some special paper to use but it is hard for me to read direction and teach myself, I guess I’m more of a visual learner! I love all of your work!
Such a great card! Love colors and geometric design.
