Hello friends! I have a few cards to share today using new goodies from Simon Says Stamp – Friendly Frolic release. Before I get to the projects (as always, I made lots of different cards to share today and in the upcoming days) I wanted to share a look at the new release and also post a few of my favorites:
I love the new Folk Dance 6×6 cling background stamp – this is a fantastic addition to the previously released Folk Dance stencil. I’m sharing projects with both the stamp set and stencil today (below). There’s also a Folk Dance die. One certainly doesn’t need all three of these, but having them opens up a world of possibilities and techniques!
My 2nd favorite product from this release is the 6×6 Diamond Pattern cling background stamp. Now, this stamp doesn’t look like much, but wait till you offset it! I have several cards to share made using this background and the offset look, see sneak peek below:
My 3rd most favorite product from this release is the Sketch Lotus Flowers stamp & die set. It is simply fantastic for pencil coloring (or any kind of coloring). I have a video tutorial coming up soon featuring this stamp and Polychromos pencils. You can also get just the stamps if you don’t need coordinating die. Here’s a sneak:
There are many other great products in this release – great for different styles and tastes. See full release here.
CARDS DETAILS
I’ve been browsing a lot of stationery websites lately and I feel like my recent cards have been heavily inspired by all the gorgeous stationery I’ve seen. Today’s cards are no different!

I used both the Folk Dance background stamp and stencil to make these cards. For the pink card I stamped background in Twirling Tutu ink, next added a Folk Dance stencil on top and offset slightly and applied Tonic Studios Moonstone Glimmer Paste.
The offset create a slight drop shadow and you can see both the background stamping and the gorgeous glimmer/shimmer on top. I trimmed this panel to be just 1/8″ shy of A2 card front, adhered onto an A2 white card base and added “you are a treasure to me” sentiment from the Beautiful Flowers stamp set stamped in Smoke ink. I didn’t want to use black for stamping here as I wanted the keep this card very soft. I also embellished it using Butterfly Kisses sequins (I’m actually almost out of these beauties)!
I loved this background stamp so much, I couldn’t stop at just one card. For my 2nd project I white heat embossed this background onto white paper and did emboss resist ink blending. I used Twirling Tutu, Hollyhock and Watermelon inks for an ombre background.
Next, I once again used Glimmer paste from Tonic Studios, this time in color Garnet Red. I offset the stencil making sure some of that white heat embossing would remain visible on the card.
I added a simple “Wishing You Happy Birthday” sentiment in same gray Smoke ink and embellished this card using red confetti pieces from the Rainbow Confetti mix.
My last card features just heat embossing and nothing else special. I used Gold embossing powder from Hero Arts and embossed this background on Simon’s Slate cardstock. Sentiment came from the same Beautiful Flowers stamp set; I used sequins from the Satin Gown mix to dress this card up.
ADDITIONAL INSPIRATION
A few month back I shared several cards and a video tutorial using just the Folk Dance stencil. You can see it HERE.

Gorgeous cards!
I loved this stencil design when you showed it a few months ago. In fact, I think I like the stencil better than the background stamp or die in this design.
It’s amazing how much depth is created by offsetting the second layer. Your cards are so beautiful & so inspiring. I really want to try this technique. Thank you!
