Hello friends! As an in-house designer at Spellbinders (my day job) I create a lot of projects that are being used for many different things. One of my recent assignments was a set of cards using Sharyn Sowell Holiday 2017 dies – I had a blast making them and would love to share some of these projects with you right here on my blog. This is part one.
As of September 2016 I work as an in-house creative designer at Spellbinders office in Phoenix. While I do a lot of work for them and create a number of different projects I am only sharing what I truly love made using their products here on my blog. I do not and never will share projects or mention products I not love.

CARD DETAILS
This card features a simple technique – Ink Blended Die Cuts. To prevent having harsh ink edges on the die cuts I prefer to blend the ink onto paper first and do my die cutting later.
I started working on this card by creating a 5 ¼” x 6 ¾” card base out of white cardstock. Next, I cut red cardstock to 4 ⅝” x 6 ⅛” and cut patterned paper (Pinkfresh Studio – Christmas Wishes) to 4 ½” x 6”. I adhere patterned paper panel onto the red panel and foam mounted onto the card.
Next, I blended Peacock Feathers and Tumbled Glass Distress inks onto white cardstock creating an ombre look. Sprayed with water to activate the ink and let it dry. I die-cut the scene making sure the darker blue ink blending was at the bottom, also die-cut stars and birds from the darkest part of the paper.
I foam foam mounted scene, birds and stars onto the card. To create a sentiment I white heat emboss a beautiful Holiday message from this set from Penny Black onto red cardstock panel, trimmed one end into a V-shape and foam mounted onto the card.

So very pretty!!
Beautiful card, love the color combo and the hint of red framing the scene.
What an absolutely gorgeous card Yana!!!
I appreciate the tip on coloring the paper first before die cutting. I have a card in mind to make for Christmas (using, in part, a Spellbinders die) and that tip will help me I’m sure. So appreciate your adventurous color combinations. As always, thank you, Yana. P.S. I hope your day job is as much fun as it sounds!!
Lovely card 🙂
