Hello friends! Today is the day! September 2017 release from WPlus9 is finally available and it is full of gorgeous designs, many of which, I have to say, are must haves for this Holiday Season and beyond. I’ve already made a few cards using new stamps and I’ll be sharing some of them this Wednesday on WPlus9 blog and some in October. I also filmed a quick video sharing a technique (or two) I’ve been enjoying tremendously as of late.

CARD DETAILS
If you follow WPlus9 blog you probably already know what technique I’m talking about. If not, see this and this card on their blog. I’ve been enjoying the no masking heat embossing technique by my friend Svitlana from craftwalks.com and I’ve also been loving my Polychromos pencils on black.
One of my favorite stamp sets from the new release is the Christmas Rose Bouquet set used on both cards I’m posting here. Truth be told, it’s a “difficult” set. It took me a few attempts to figure the best way to color it. It is also a fantastic set if you are into coloring – whether you are just practicing and trying to improve your skills or you are a master colorist.
Using Svitlana’s technique I heat embossed the bouquet 4 times onto my background (black and also white) with embossing powder. Using embossing powder instead of colored ink eliminates the need to do masking (which I am not always a fan of) and speeds up the stamping process of the background a lot. I used gold embossing powder from Hero Arts to stamp the image, but I can image using other colors, like Platinum or Copper, as well.
I colored the images using just a handful of Polychormos pencils – 2 blues for the poinsettia, a few greens for the leaves and 2 grays for the hellebore flowers. Catch a peek at my coloring in my Instagram video below:
Once my background was colored I adhered it onto an A2 side folding card base and finished the card off by heat embossing a gorgeous Christmas sentiment, also from WPlus9 – “Christmas Blessings”.
Here’s a look at an identical card (in terms of products and technique) done one white paper and in red color.
I know not everyone loves black as much as I do, so I colored the same image, or the same background in red, green and gray on white cardstock. You can see how different of a look I got.
The background of this card was intentionally colored with a light gray pencil to let the non colored, white, flowers pop. I used same Polychromos pencils for my coloring and identical coloring techniques to color images for this card.

Such gorgeous Christmas cards Yana! Your coloring and technique is beyond amazing! Thanks for sharing.
These are all just stunning Yana. After seeing the black card I am so inspired to try this but as I said, I don’t have any coloured pencils yet. Pinned for reference though.
WOWW! Gorgeoussss cards!!
Absolutely delightful cards, Yana! I just love floral cards you’ve been making with the dark backgrounds and I don’t think I would have thought of trying this myself. I have a set of Polychromos pencils and I don’t use them nearly enough. You’ve inspired me to give this technique a shot. Thanks!
Yana, you are so talented! Everyday I look for to seeing another amazing card. Also your styling and photography knock me over.
Thank you for sharing your gift!
Nancy
I meant to say forward instead of for. Oops!
Very pretty cards and stamp set
WOW!! The blue and black is amazing!
I love poinsettias and your cards are just amazing! The blue on black is truly stunning!
Wow! Fantastic cards! It inspires me try this technique.
Thanks so much for sharing.
Connie
Your cards are beautiful Yana! I especially love the black one, it’s stunning!
I never in a million years(!) would have thought to use a black background on a Christmas card … and it TOTALLY works!!! And the black with the blue is just stunning! These are beautiful cards, Yana (do I sound redundant?!). I can’t wait to feel better and get my pencils out again. I love to color with them and this post is inspiring and encouraging. Thanks, Yana.
Both cards are pretty, but the black background is really a show stopper.
Hi Yana! I thank you for sharing these gorgeous cards. I just got the Christmas Bouquet stamp and was sort of regretting the purchase because it looks like the Sympathy Lilies stamp … not anymore, I’m excited to color it the same way you did.
