Hello, ladies! I have a new video tutorial to share using a couple of awesome color layering products from Hero Arts. As promised, I’m also sharing an extended color layering guide for the Bird and Branch stamp set as mentioned in this post.

I have probably already said this a million times, but I love to make my own custom stamped (or die cut) backgrounds. I feel like custom backgrounds just let you run wild and create without boundaries. Does it make sense? I usually make my backgrounds on a small piece of paper (large enough for one A2 card), but today I’m sharing a video tutorial showing how to stamp a much large custom background (using larger stamps).
VIDEO TUTORIAL – STAMPING LARGE PATTERNS
If you take a closer look at the cards shared in this post you’ll notice that not a lot of elements are being repeated on the background. For example you can only spot one or maybe two birds on one card.
These are rather large and whenever I work with images that are that big I like to start on a larger surface – on a full Letter sheet. This gives me more room to work and play.

CARD DETAILS
Creating a pattern on a full Letter sheet yields 4 pieces (backgrounds) for standard A2 cards. I’ve trimmed mine down a little bit and adhered each onto a black card base (I used Hero Arts layering papers – they have color on one side, but are white on the other, so the inside of the black card base is actually white) and added a gold heat embossed sentiment using Lia Griffith sentiment stamps. I have all of them linked below.
Now before I forget, here’s an extended color layering guide for the Bird and Branch stamp set (using Hero Arts inks). I like a few of those, some turned out not the way I had expected, but still look awesome, some make for a great Holiday color combo (can you tell I’m already in a Holiday mood?), like the second orange-green-red bird.

OK, so I should have had the wine as I watched this, it IS very tropical. However, being as today is cool here and overcast, maybe I’ll re-watch it on a sunnier day with the wine as I totally enjoyed it! Fabulous cards!
