Card a month is a monthly video series on my blog (retired). Once a month, usually on the 2nd or 3rd Friday I share a new handmade card along with a video tutorial. I hope you’ll enjoy!
Hi everyone! Welcome back for another Card A Month video. Today I’m pairing this post with a mini series using Spellbinders dies and First Edition papers to create elegant Christmas Cards. First Edition papers (this is a UK brand available from Trimcraft) are among my top favorites to use with Spellbinders dies to create elegant, heavily layered cards. Their papers have beautiful effects such as foiling, gloss, embossing (DCWV has similar effects, but their designs aren’t as pretty as those from First Edition).

I’m actually sharing 2 cards today, both are very similar, the difference is in a final embellishment and the border dies:

CARD DETAILS
The cards I’m sharing today both use the same Labels 41 dies from Spellbinders along with Labels 41 Decorative Elements. I love that Spellbinders now has not only labels, but matching decorative sets – this really allows for more options and expands the creativity.
Aside from Labels 41 I also used A2 Matting Basics A and B sets, I love to use those to create simple layers for my projects. I didn’t think I’d need dies like this (heck, they just cut rectangles), but I am reaching for them for every project I make.
Since Labels 41 are more squared than rectangular, I needed to add die cut borders to my cards to balance things out. I used A2 Scalloped Borders Three and Curved Borders Two – both are beautiful and look stunning.
To embellish these I used snowflakes from the Snowflake Bliss set and also a bird from the Dove of Peace.
Quite a bit of die cutting here was done using Gold Mirror Cardstock. I love this product and I use it often. The one I used here is also from Trimcraft, but there are similar products available from USA. Altenew has Gold Mirror Cardstock, Do Crafts has a pack of gold and silver (linked below) and finally you can find similar paper at Hobby Lobby (not quite as nice and shiny, but very close).

Elegant cards–I love the layered gold snowflake embellishment.
Well, Yana, these cards are so jaw-dropping gorgeous that I am speechless! The detail, colors and die cuts are just amazing. Wow!
EXQUISITE 🙂
So beautiful Yana, they are so elegant
Your cards are beautiful!
I love this card and the paper. Where can I get the paper. I have the mirror gold but would like to find the pattered paper. Also in another video you showed some botanical paper, stripes on side roses on other and similar, where can I find that?
Thanks
for making and sharing your gorgeous cards.
Regina
Hello, Regina!
Thanks so much! The paper I am using here is from First Edition (Trimcraft), this particular pad is called Gilded Winter (https://goo.gl/dTvWLa). This is a UK brand, so a bit hard to find in the US and this paper is a few years old, too. I’ve seen this paper brand being sold on Amazon http://amzn.to/2vRQyms
